I would have to say keeping coughlin after the team paid no respect to him and abused his authority in team meeting and to the press.

Stanback's problem now is described as shin splints, not the Lisfranc repair, and trainers apparently remain optimistic.
San Diego, 2 rounds later, drafted WR/QB Naanee, who's running and catching OK, according to Chargers' camp observers.
With Eric Parker's toe surgery today, Naanee may be playing sooner than Stanback.
I can't answer the Ferguson question, but think Ted Washington's age caught up with him last year in Cleveland.

Jacksonville did call Stanback early on the morning of the second day and tell him they were going to draft him in the 4th. They had two fourth rounders and their earliest was before Dallas's. They got a punter with that one. Never any guarantee someone will be there later.

Regarding the Stanback comments........where does this "By all accounts Stanback would have likely been available in the 5th or even 6th round" come from? The truth is that by all accounts he would have never been available in the 5th round. I find it interesting that everyone who didn't like that pick always makes your exact same comments.

Jerry has won 3 superbowls as the GM of the Dallas Cowboys I see he forgot to mention that and he has the makings of a Superbowl team now so comparing him to Danny boy makes no sense.

Honestly, barring Duckett and Archuleta, I've always thought the guys the skins brought in would be contributors. Dating all the way back to Stubblefield. I don't have a problem converting a QB to WR that has athletic ability. One of the easier transistions in the game as they both require the same understanding of the offense and defense. It's not like this is the dawning of a new idea.

If we were depleted at WR and NEEDED another position drafted in that round, then yeah, I might chuckle at us. We have the time to develope him and can afford the gamble that it pays off. If it does, we'll be the ones laughing......last.

yea, i heard a couple of teams told dallas "you took our player!"

but i suppose when you're talking 10 bad moves on 4 teams, you gotta find *something* to whine about, true or otherwise.

those teams were put together by Jimmy Johnson and paid for by Jones. Jones showed how good a GM he was after Johnson left until the Tuna showed up.

Who hired Jimmy Johnson?

and who hired parcells....

the people whining *now* are likely the same ones saying jones would *never* hire a real coach. he does, it's a fluke and they can't admit their "far side extremeism" was wrong.

Exactly. Jerry Jones may have had the GM title, but he was not making the decisions on players via the draft - it was Jimmy. Once Jimmy left Jerry made the decisions until Parcells arrived, and even then Jones made moves regarding players that Parcells ostensibly winced at (T.O.).

I LOVE Jerry Jones the owner. And he's gotten better as a GM no doubt, but imo (and I very well could be wrong), there is a fundamental conflict of interest between being both owner and GM. I hope I am dead-wrong on Jones the GM. Nothing would make me happier.

How many NFL teams that do have a GM don't have a SuperBowl?

Also, those are some pretty strong words about "never winning a SuperBowl". I have never met someone that can predict the future.

If you are a Cowboy fan you better count your blessings that we do have Jerry as an owner.

;)
