I was thinking about "What if" ..

Dak is not signed and he gets traded to the highest bidder.

We take a draft pick in the first for Dak and we have 2 #1s and could even get one of the top 1 to 3 QBs to draft..

    my thought is..

Who would take over grooming that QB?

My guess would be Big Mike and a whole lot of Moore.

Are we really sure we could win while doing two rebuilds?

That seems with this team it is a possibility.

I need somebody to add their 2 cents?

    Thanx.

    Red...

For starters...Dak can't get traded unless he's signed.

We signed a declining RB to a second contract,,, early.
We signed a wounded LB to franchise money.
We all need to realize and accept that the third critical mistake is coming.

    I know.

But this team has done way crazier things.

    Like.

Like forcing their best coach in 30 years to resign during a spectacular SB run.

    Nah.

You mean rolling the dice on whatever QB is available at #10 and hope we beat the long odds of that player ever being a franchise QB?

No, what he means is that your hypothetical could never work because of the way the CBA works

you can’t trade a player who is not under contract

it’s not just a “crazier thing”, it’s an “impossible thing”

Well, depends entirely on where this FO is mentally entering the draft.
If your asking if I were running the show, if I would be comfortable drafting a Franchise worthy QB in this draft from the 10 slot... hell no.

a case could be made for it.

    1. The offense has very good skill positions, and the oline will be healthier next year. A rookie qb can succeed
    2. You could resign Dalton and give the rookie some time
    3. Dak was a top 10 qb in 2019 and was looking like he would be in 2020 and that did not lead to wins with the current roster. So, avoiding his contract and adding more depth and skill is an idea.
4.A cheap qb for 5 years is appealing

He has to be able to play in the pocket and throw. I don't want a qb who can't

    And to add without edit,,,,,,
It depends entirely on this FO intentions.
My thoughts and your thoughts and all other fan generated thoughts are irrelevant, so its never personal... we just find it amusing to speculate.
So the only way Im replacing Dak is with a sign and trade to move up into the top 3 and have a shot of at least Fields.
Jags are drafting Lawrence and Jets are taking Wilson, unless we can can somehow convince either of those two that Dak can be there guy.
Nobody wants to pay Dak,,, fans will eventually start to understand this.

Lots of variables go into what to do with Dak. For one, it sucks that he got injured big time, otherwise this whole topic might change.

We all know that it is not Dak's fault for the teams record, we know that. There is talk about when some say our 8-8 or so is special teams, defense or what not sucks. Well, it does, we see it all every game. But how does it get fixed with only so much money (glad it's not my money) to build it all up in the right way.

If Dak had not gotten injured and would come down off his high horse and realize he is not helping his "favorite team growing up" because of him and his agent over this coming contract, we might be having a different conversation hoping he comes back strong, big, same Dak, even better, but that is not the case, no one is sure of that, yet.

Go find in the draft another hungry QB looking for an opportunity to play in the NFL, Dak got one. The GOAT Brady was a, what 6-8 pick? Their some gold in them their mountains. It's to late to kick Zeke to the curb, or Jaylon, or (f' all yall).

It is not a good investment if JJ pulls the plug in his hot tube.

What if? What if I step outside my house and trip over a stack of 100 dollar bills? Your what if is just too unlikely. Dak has to first sign the tag. Then some team is going to have to make him an offer he can't refuse and give up two first round picks. All without really knowing how he has recovered from his injury.

All Dak has to do is sign the tag and not accept any offers. Play for the Cowboys and show what he can do and go to FA the following season. If he plays well he'll get bigger offers. If he doesn't play that well he just made almost 70 million in 2 years.

many of the best qbs were taken 10 or later and ? roll the dice is selling the farm to move up 5 spots and still get the same qb..someone will, slide to 10 and might be fields , wilson,or mac jones..its all a risk rather take one at 10 then at 5 with all our draft stock needed to build defense..

    grow up elite qbs

    Maohmes? 10ish

    rogers late first
    wilson round 3 was it
    Brady round 6

    where did Watson go?

    dak 4th rounder..

right move up because its the only option EVER..DUH

Today's game is totally different. Back in the 60s, 70's, and maybe even the 80s, they played because they loved the sport. They now play for the money. When some of these players cry when they get drafted, what do you think that's about?
