Havent given up on team just hate the position they are in. The defense needs play makers, the oline is needs help, Zeke is worn down, McCarthy made some very questionable calls last season, the QB doesnt seem to perform well against better teams. The GM/ owner is a major meddling problem with the team culture.

Other than all of that the team is in great shape. :muttley:

This place will be back to the 13-3 and Super Bowl predictions by August, most likely followed by the annual frustration of trying to squeak into the playoffs and a divisional round exit (at best).

Probably 75% of the threads, posts since the March 15th have been crapping on the Cowboys. And that’s probably conservative. I’ve heard things like “26 more years of mediocrity”, “team has no chance with Jerry”, “team has no chance with Stephen”, “team has no chance with Dak”, etc, etc, etc. It’s like a big sleepover with a bunch of 12 yr old girls. It doesn’t matter the age group, many of the old farts are there with the young farts. It’s been quite entertaining. It’s like they don’t realize that every year a new team goes out there on week 1. Not the team from the previous year, but a new team. And of recent, new coaches. Much needed new coaches.

So my question, is why have all you Haters given up so easily? Why have you quit on the team? Why are you even here since you have?

It’s a new year, with new players, with new coaches. Last year the team experienced the most injuries in one year since I’ve been a fan and that has been since 63. There’s never been as many injuries to key players as last year. So what do you expect after that a damn Super Bowl? Get real. Put down the damn Madden game. Quit watching Stephen A Smith and all the talking heads like him.

This team is on the precipice of great success. When Dak’s been healthy the offense scores points. He’s had 23, 22, 23 and 30 TD’s in his first 4 years and 9 in 4.5 games last year.

Since Dak has taken over the Cowboys average
26.6 pts per game in 2016,
22.7 in 2017,
21.4 in 2018
27.1 in 2019
And over 30 puts per game in 2020 before he got injured.

And that’s with some of the worst defenses overall during those years in the NFL. Defenses that could not get off the field.

So now we have yet again a new DC. One with some great creds. MM is in his 2nd year as the HC. It’s really his first as last year he had no time to implement his culture to the organization because of Covid. Yet the team won 3 out of the last 4 games. With all those critical injuries.

Many of you haters will ***** up until a Super Bowl win and some of you will ***** about certain players performance. You need to take a close look at yourself. Why have you given up? Why have you quit? Every year is different. Don’t quit. Don’t ever, ever give up. Keep fighting or resign yourself to being losers.
This sounds like those 70's Saints fans with the bags over their heads which is why my family in New Orleans were always Dallas Cowboy fans.

Saints fans always said "Wait til next year" from 1967 to 1987. The started calling them the "Ain'ts because they were not Saints. They had they same issue the Arlington Jonesboys have today. The owner was the GM making all the coaching and player decisions. John Mecom Jr. proved that does not work. So when I saw Jerry Dumbo GM Jones fire Jimmy Johnson, Bob Ackles, ran off John Wooten, and started doing the same thing as John Mecom Jr., I knew it was over and it will stay that way.

Mecom sold the Saints and the NFL required Tom Benson to hire a GM which was Hall of Famer Jim Finks. Then the winning began. Mrs. Benson continues the best way that used to be the Cowboys way of football operations by letting the GM and Coach Payton make football decisions (see Tex, Gil, and Tom, then Jimmy, Bob, and John). This is why every Thanksgiving holiday in New Orleans for the last 25 years, family Saints fans are now telling me "ya'll need to get rid of Jerry like the Saints got rid of Mecom".

Why should I be insane doing the same thing over and over again looking for different results? Jerry Jones has made the Borg out of Dallas Cowboys fans making them Arlington Jonesboys fans. I will resist the Arlington Jonesboys even when resistance is futile...

I keep hearing the defense is already better because they hired Dan Quinn. That sounds a lot like the team is already better because they hired Mike McCarthy. Bottom line is it comes down to the players and the defense is missing good ones.

I am a fan of fans that don't try to label or set the standards for other fans.

There is absolutely no connection between a person's level of optimism or positivity and their level of fanhood. None.

Optimism is, by and large, a choice. Doesn't matter if the glass is half empty or full, it is your glass.

I will not defend anyone's position but I will defend their right to have it. There is no pecking order of fans based on their level of optimism. There are no "better fans".

I posted that the Cowboys will win the East in the NFCE East thread and I am definitely in the minority and while I will try and defend my position, emphasis on try, I respect those opinions opposed to mine and just how they do that. No one called me a name, just pointed out where they thought I was wrong. Like I said, I was married for 42 years, I am "wrong trained".

There is a huge difference between disagreeing and being disagreeable.

There is also this misconception that we're all supposed to get along because we're fans of the same team, absurd. One has little to do with the other. On the reverse of that, 4 of my closest buds of the last 30 years are fans of the other East teams. 2 WAS, 1 PHL and I NYG and I would take a bullet for them. Because it is a well known fact that fans of those 3 teams would gladly shoot a Cowboys fan.

Just be yourself, and don't follow the masses because sometimes the "m" is silent.

What type of association does a person belong to currently that would mean they are literally contributing to the on field performance of an NFL team? You would have to be a team employee.
That’s not true at all. Just talk to an NFL player sometimes put them in the right frame of mind. The game starts in the locker room before the game. This game is very emotional. There’s a lot that goes into it before the game even starts

Rocky? Who are you trying to save? Let the losers be losers. You really can't save them anyway. Of course, they will want to be included in the celebration when the Cowboys win it all.

Boy I sure hope I get a ticket to the celebration when we win!

Or my kids. Or grandkids.

Yep.

You need players. With this offense, they don't need an elite D. But they lack talent at certain positions to even be average on D. It is downright puzzling that they saw their LBs regress, that their DTs got smoked last year. We lost games because teams ran it down our throats. In our division alone, Washington had nearly 400 yards rushing on us total in both games.

What's their offseason response? We like our guys. We don't need any significant help at DT. It's peculiar.

I was thinking about this earlier today while watching Free Agent Frenzy on NFL network. Everyone in the world who talks about the Cowboys defense mentions the weakness at DT. Everyone. Do the Cowboys not see this? Do they really believe they can fix it in the draft? Obviously not since they have not used a 1st round pick on a DT since 1991, the only team in the NFL that can make that claim!. But then they don't fix it in free agency either so it remains a weakness. It is like the Jones family thinks it is going to magically fix itself at some point!

I don't think Carlos Watkins will be much better than Hamilton or Ankou. He is certainly not going to change into an impact DT after 4 years of being a JAG in Houston. He is probably a better signing that Dontari Poe, but only because he will at least be in shape enough to play.

The Cowboys strategy of signing depth while allowing their better starters to leave via free agency is going to keep them from being competitive.

Watkins is a JAG. As you said, is he any better than Hamilton?

The scary thing is that this is a guy they sign on the 2nd day of FA. LOL. I mean what the hell? You can probably find a dozen Watkins' three weeks from now if you wanted one.

It’s not “quitting” to criticize the team.

1. We aren’t playing and we aren’t the ones making the decisions. Any fan who actually spends their free time on this message board in the first place isn’t “quitting” because obviously they still are putting a lot of time and energy into following the team.

2. Giving open and honest criticism isn’t a bad thing and isn’t quitting. If you see something wrong or if you see something that needs to change, it isn’t quitting.

Any successful business, whether it’s a sports team or grocery store or auto manufacturer or hospital or whatever, has to have the ability to be critical of things it’s not doing well and things it needs to improve, in order to make itself better.

Years ago I worked at a pork processing plant for a couple years.

The superintendent came into a meeting one day. And said to everyone. “We need to improve our workplace safety. It’s not good enough and we need to make changes”

One of the managers said “I think we are doing a good job”

The superintendent said “no we suck and here are the numbers of how we compare to similar facilities in the country in these metrics”.

the superintendent then made an action plan on WHAT AND HOW to change things in order to improve overall safety in the facility. And after the changes were implemented. The safety metrics actually improved and got up to industry average.

Was it quitting for the superintendent to say “we suck at this and we need to change stuff to get better”

No, it wasn’t. It was being honest about the situation and DOING SOMETHING to make a change for the better.

Are you suggesting that the fans are contributing to the emotional points scored in games? How many points did the fans score last season in the NFL?

OMG!!

POT MEET KETTLE.......!!

Pssssst.....you aren't paying Daks salary.

HOWEVER.....IF YOU ARE.....forget what I just said and let's be BFF's, K?
I don’t pay it, but as a fan that puts the team over Dak, I don’t like seeing the whole team screwed over by overpaying one player, especially a player that has no chance of playing up to his contract.

Do you breathe oxygen?

What's the cap hit, again?

Quit regurgitating crap that isn't true.

Man up with you very own stance. You don't like Dak because you HATE the fact he benched Romo........which makes your "team first" approach laughable and also makes you a HYPOCRITE.

THINK!

I will never understand adults using teenage terms like 'haters' and somehow expect an ability to debate in a respectful manner. As for the need to apply Dak's impact on the offense, what does it really matter when the team has only played 3 playoff games in his 5 years? What does it matter when Dallas has done absolutely nothing so far to improve what was one of the organizations worst defenses in history?
Every year it’s a new team. Dak has proved he can lead the offense to elite levels. He’s done that consistently. Just look at the teams stats. He doesn’t play defense or special teams and doesn’t coach. But hey, I get it. Haters like you just gonna hate.

Free agency and the draft are like Christmas and the players are the presents. Once the games start it's another story.

Urban had the 3rd highest run stopper rating in the NFL last year according to PFF.
