Leeblair, I'm just letting you know that you're wrong yet again.Maybe Jerry meant for it to be this way; one year for all the marbles. If Dak does well this year(meaning helping the Cowboys take the next step in the playoffs) he gets a mega deal next year that resets the quarterback market. If he doesn't, it could ward off any suitors vying for his services in free agency.
And that puts ALL of the pressure on Dak to succeed. If he flops it could cost him as much as $100 million or even more in free agency.
OR, could it be that Jerry knows something else, like maybe the NFL WILL IN FACT put a salary cap on the quarterback position. That could well be the reason the Cowboys have yet to make Dak an offer he is willing to agree to.
For all of the bluster about the money Dak has been offered as of now, no one except Dak and his agent know the terms- other than Stephen and Jerry. There may not be any guarantees and certainly not a no-trade or no-cut clause.
It's very possible that Dak is watching his future hang in limbo in more ways than one, and only a great performance this season will earn him a decent contract to finish his career.
Multiple? Who? Raiders/Giants? Who else? Every team would be better served drafting a guy instead of throwing it all into $$ pit Dak.Leeblair, I'm just letting you know that you're wrong yet again.
There's nothing holding Dak back from receiving multiple top of the QB market deals next off-season - outside of Russel Wilson drop in play. Which is extremely unlikely.
Seattle, Pitt, Saints, possibly Panthers just off the top of my head to add to the two you mentioned.Multiple? Who? Raiders/Giants? Who else? Every team would be better served drafting a guy instead of throwing it all into $$ pit Dak.
Teams may balk at his price. Some team won't but that's a big investment in a 30+ year old guy who has proven he only chokes in big games. Will be interesting to see how it all shakes out though.Seattle, Pitt, Saints, possibly Panthers just off the top of my head to add to the two you mentioned.
That only holds true if the person they draft doesn't suck, which ends up happening the majority of the time.
Every team would be better served with a top 10 QB over a bottom 10 QB, even with the CAP savings.
He’s gonna get a big payday. GM’s realize teams, not individual players win playoff gamesMaybe Jerry meant for it to be this way; one year for all the marbles. 37 year old Kirk Cousins got $40M/yr coming off a torn achilles with one playoff win.Teams may balk at his price. Some team won't but that's a big investment in a 30+ year old guy who has proven he only chokes in big games. Will be interesting to see how it all shakes out though.
$40/m is a lot different than $60+/m. That's a couple starting players.37 year old Kirk Cousins got $40M/yr coming off a torn achilles with one playoff win.
Also the choking comment is about as personal bias over substance as it gets, I'm afraid.
You said he ONLY chokes in big games, yes?$40/m is a lot different than $60+/m. That's a couple starting players.
It's not bias when you analyze facts and his performances in the playoffs. 2-5...
What about against the 49ers?You said he ONLY chokes in big games, yes?
In your example you point to team W-L record, a team W-L record only in the playoffs(despite many big games in the regular season), and your chosen data showed two wins. That doesn't really jive with your personal bias statement.
Truthfully Dak has had more impressive playoff games ('16 GB, '18 Sea, '18 LAR, and '22 TB) than he's had lackluster performances.
