So football is a team sport?
I'm not a fan of the different era rhetoric. What does it matter what the rest of the NFL is doing? If something works for you piss on the rest of the NFL. If a strong defense and a strong running game limit your quarterback to 200 yards a game so be it. as long as we get the w. I will take Aikman like stats as long as we keep grinding out wins.
I see what you're saying, but that's what was tough supporting Romo. At any point when we needed a win he could break your heart with an untimely blunder. That's what I like about Prescott. He's more careful. That conservative approach doesn't sit well with those who still go on about Romo.
Well the 90s Bill Wash teams lest go back to the 50's 3 yards and cloud of dust offense that was also effective. Maybe Wishbone....
That's very true. I for one am not against Dak being conservative. Give the opposing offense less chances especially in your own end of the field and you will win the game.
Same here. Whatever gets us wins.
You are trying to compare the stats of Troy Aikman in a time that running games and defense were the formula for winning championships to area that is more QB friendly as it pertains to hits, rules to limit DB contact on receivers, and favors higher scoring. That is like comparing the bow and arrow to a rifle.
LOL, not sure where pinpoint accurate passer or many of the issues are not on him are coming from. I'm merely pointing out the double standards of which 2 separate QBs are either defended or bashed.
Dak has issues. Throwing for under 200 yards is not an issue, in and of itself. Missing a wide open Rico for a touchdown is an issue. I have no problem with legitimate criticism. I do have a problem with double standards. If Dak missing a wide open pass is a problem (which it is), then Romo missing a wide open receiver in the past should have also been an issue. Isn't that fair to say?
This is as misleading as saying Dak is a great QB based on 2016.
Fact- teams who can run successfully don't need to throw as much. That was our offense in 2016.
We no longer have an unstoppable ground attack. Passing has become more critical this season. Hope Dak steps up.
I hear what you are saying. But that just brings us right back full circle. One person is skilled with a bow and arrow and can kill more deer then an unskilled person with a rifle while hunting in the same Forest. If a strong Run game and a strong defense limits the quarterbacks who are passing for 300 to 400 yards a game what does it matter if your quarterback only had 200 yards and you won the game? I understand if we only had 200 yards and our defense was absolute garbage. And our Run game was non-existent. Then yes of course we will not win any games in this era.
There are a few Romo fans here who weren't old enough to see Aikman win SBs, so that's their hero. Typically the same who STILL support Bryant.
Just curious but i wonder if these stats change at all if you throw in ZERO TD's to go along with under 200 yards and ZERO INT's and for the record Dak has thrown INT's in alot of the games he has thrown for under 200 yards so for those using these stats has a comparison to Dak it is not at all accurate
I didn't get a chance to watch Troy Aikman. So Romo is my favorite Cowboys quarterback that I got to watch. But that said I'm a realist.
I think the main concern is scoring offense under Dak recently. Over the past 10 contests we have averaged 15.6 ppg. That includes games of 38 and 30 points. Take those two games away we have averaged 11 ppg over 8 games. The team has to start scoring more.
There ya go. So you can understand why others have a hard time moving on to Prescott? Even if they're not realists like you.
It’s like Jumbo stated. Stats are too often interpreted incorrectly.
Speaking of Fantasy. I don’t suppose it’s a good indicator Prescott isn’t a good QB?
But stats are basically a set or collection of evidence to provide and support a theory to be true.
Nothing personal, but it's getting more and more common around here for fans to suggest their point of view based on eliminating plays or games to support their narrative.
This attack to belittle much of what Dak does or has done is all to similar to the all out war on Romo’s play. It comes from our own fans, opposing fans, and the media. I don’t think I see other players gone after in near the same way.
Is it jealously of the attention some feel is undeserved?
Is it being the most popular team and the most hated team that motivates the opposition?
Is it natural to have “self hating fans” and we just have more numbers than other teams?
Just in case you were wondering which board members hate or like Dak, read this thread.
Many of them should be very obvious.
