Under 200 yards at 6.2 to 7.0 YPA and 0 interceptions gives you a 94-8 record (.922 winning percentage) since 2005. Against winning teams, it's 38-4 (.905). Against teams that made the playoffs, it's 32-2 (.941).

Passing efficiency (offense and defense) wins games, not total passing yards.

Basically, your stat is a self-fulfilling prophecy. You even had to expand the timeline from 2008 to 2005 to increase the pool.

Against winning teams that was a 42 game sample over the course of 13 years. That is 3.2 games per year across the entire league...

If you find yourself whether against a winning team or not, throwing under 200 yards and at least 6 yards per attempt, means that your defense has held the other team likely to less or created a significant number of turnovers.

In reality, your numbers continue to show that this isn't the standard winning formula against winning teams.

In less than, ideal situations, you don't have the luxury of putting up less than 200 yards and 0 interceptions against winning teams. You have to start throwing more aggressively because your defense is down points, which increases interceptions.

As I said before, add 1 interception and see the same time frame or better yet if you can cross-reference it with games in which the defense gives up more than 21 points in a game and see how much the numbers absolutely crater.

It isn’t truth. The numbers are inaccurate and misleading, and the point he’s trying to make is dumb anyway. At some point if you pass for a small enough number of yards, your impact on the game is minimal and the team wins in spite of you (not saying 160 is that point). Our resident mindless stat bot doesn’t really know anything about football... he just churns our numbers (and doesn’t check them apparently).

Football Stats for teams and players are like Financial Statements for companies. If you know how to read them correctly, they can give you a lot of information. If you don't, then stats are a waste of time, and reading financial statements won't help you in your investments.

Those who complain about stats are either 1) listening to those who don't know how to correctly interpret stats (which includes 98.3% of all sports writers), or 2) simply not savvy enough to understand how to interpret numbers. Those two groups include about 80-90% of fans, so of course most people are going to denigrate stats. That doesn't make them right. And if I agreed with you, then we'd both be wrong.

In that case there would be many QBs whose stats and yardage would be diminished if long pass plays or long TD passes were taken away. Even QBs who manage to throw for 300+ yards have big yardage stats because either of long down field pass plays or the WRs running and gaining big YAC. How many big stat game would Romo lose if all of his long TD passes were taken away or if any long runs the WRs after the catch were taken away? Or does this logic only apply to Dak. Because Dak gets criticized for throwing dink and dunk passes. But, then we he throws a long TD pass at the start of the game some say it shouldn't count to his overall game.

If Dak makes more than one long TD pass or long pass in a game are those suppose to be taken away from his stats as well?

Just to give an idea on how unreliable this narrative is.

Tony Romo the number of games in which Romo threw no interceptions and still lost is 17 regular games over his career (out of a total 30 games). I would take off two of those games because he had less than 10 attempts, but 15 is still pretty high (not sure the number of total games I would remove due to participation).

I don't mind the constructive criticism of Dak either . There are things he has to get better at for certain . There are many good posters that analyze his game in a constructive way and don't just spew hate .

Then there is this other lost tribe of purely Romo fans that will just never get over Dak taking there heros Job even though it was no fault of Daks Geez They don't even let the starting offense play in preseason now what was Tony doing playing and running after back surgery . Correct. I think for a certain group of fans, Romo is the fabric of their fanhood at this point. They probably spent the majority of his playing career defending him against Romo haters who were certain the Cowboys would not and could not win with Tony Romo as QB. Every loss turned into a blame Romo fest and that got tiring as well. I spent all those years defending Romo against the stupid claims.

And the hate started immediately for Dak, even when Romo was still the starter. First preseason game, the Romo haters latched onto Dak claiming him the next best thing and how he needed to be the starter. The Dak/Romo fighting began. It got worse with each preseaon game and after Romo went down the Romo lovers hate for Dak picked up steam as if they were salivating waiting for Dak to fail. "It's just the preseason, vanilla game plans, wait until the regular season, wait until they have tape on him, wait until he plays a good defense, wait until he plays in cold weather, wait until the playoffs" constantly moving the chains clearly disturbed the team was winning without Romo. Of course, Romo not coming back in in 2016 and then being let go sealed Dak's fate.

That said, Dak isn't the only QB Romo lovers attacked. They not only defended Romo from all the criticism, they also diminished the accomplishments of a lot of other QBs along the way, including the very best QBs. Brady plays in the East, has the best coach, could only win by a FG, is a cheater. They scoffed at the notion Rodgers was better than him earlier this decade. Eli got lucky. Russell Wilson is a game manager at best, would never be able to carry a team without the defense and running game like Romo could, etc. etc. It is just in their make up to build Romo up and tear other QBs down, and you're right, it isn't going to change. If the next QB comes in and fans say he is better than Romo, they will hate that QB too. Just watch.
