For the past 27 years, this franchise has been fooling Cowboys fans

And there are some of us who were very little when we won our SBs (I turned 30 a few days ago), but come back annually because we are fans of this team.

LOL, that's what I figured the reason was for most fans. Maybe some people listen to what Jerry has to say?

Commonly known to majority as "FOOLS GOLD"
Pyrite received that nickname because it is worth virtually nothing, but has an appearance that "fools" people into believing that it is gold. With a little practice, there are many easy tests that anyone can use to quickly tell the difference between pyrite and gold.

The nickname "fool's gold" has long been used by gold buyers and prospectors, who were amused by excited people who thought they had found gold. These people did not know how to tell the difference between pyrite and gold, and their ignorance caused them to look foolish

So that takes us to our beloved Dallas Cowboys. For the past 27 years, this franchise has been fooling Cowboys fans with the new stadium, aka: Jerry's World, numerous seasons of .500 records with "the clapper", the traditional collapses after Thanksgiving and the year after year hearing this franchise "has so much talent". Romo has the franchise record of passing yards and TD passes, now we learn that Prescott ties Aikman with 165 TD passes. Neither Romo or Prescott can't get their team to a single NFC Conference game. Neither could even produce back-to-back playoff wins in a single season. Jerry gets on his weekly radio to sell more pyrite and it works. Cowboys are the richest sports franchise worth over 8 Billion. Every year is #1 in Forbes Magazine. The Cowboys get the highest TV ratings and highest attendance of any NFL team. All this without do anything---ON THE FIELD-- for 27 years. Not even a single NFC Conference game.

The selling of pyrite have left the Cowboys fans coming back for more because "fan" is short for FANATIC. Fans want to buy into anything that makes them feel good. I guess that is just part of being fan of anything. So until this franchise can actually buy the authentic nuggets of gold, the Dallas Cowboys franchise will keep selling pyrite and fan base will keep pointing to the 5 Superbowl rings when the franchise was GOLD !

I really do not understand the point of your post. So just stop being a fan of this club?

Not being fooled at all, we willingly show up every season and even through the most obsessive complaining, we remain.

I laugh every time I see some member trying to blame Booger for "selling" them on the team and the season. Ever see a more willing buyer than a Cowboys fan?

What doesn't make sense to me is this guilty feeling some seem to have for being the most irrational of human beings, a sports fan.

This playoff season may go the way of the past ones but what about the ride to get here? The journey is 18 weeks and the destination can be 1 game, a disappointment.

You would think after these 26 years of "woe is us" would have taught us a lesson by now. We are just like the CLE, DET, and WAS fans but we don't want to admit it. Some feel this inexplicable popularity and attention this team draws has anything to do with what happens on the field. It is pure exposure and promotion that a team like CLE has to make a questionable trade or DET has to come out of nowhere or WAS has to be an ownership trainwreck to get the coverage the Cowboys automatically receive.

You are a fan, cut yourself some slack. You weren't wrong to put your belief in your team, that's what fans do. One group of fans gets to celebrate in the end with all the others thinking about what might have been.

The old adage about love, "better to have loved and lost than to never have loved at all" applies to being a fan.

Tell you one thing, you believers. If you are wrong, you will not hear it from me because I didn't even believe to start this season.

And who really wins in the end? Those that expect more and get less or those that expect less and get more?

Those who expect nothing, and hope for everything.

A good organization keeps its team competitive year after year. You'll notice that even the very best don't win the Super Bowl every year. Landry's Cowboys didn't win the Super Bowl 10 straight years, nor did Chuck Noll's Steelers, nor did Bill Walsh's 49ers. Even Belicheck's Patriots couldn't do that.

Landry put together excellent teams year after year. In the 70s, they were within striking distance of the Super Bowl every year except 1974. He ended up going five times and winning twice. Landry's teams were relevant for 20 years. Bill Walsh's teams were relevant almost as long. That's about the best you can hope to do.

I don't understand why some of you watch football? Seriously. If you're this miserable, find a better way to spend your time. Life is short.

I get it, it's been a long and rough stretch being a Cowboys fan, and our GM sucks. It is what it is at this point. We can't change it, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the ride. For as much as this franchise frustrates me, I still love them, support them, and watch them every season. I get being cautious, but it's also OK as a fan to try and find some optimism or have some hope. The chances of winning the Super Bowl aren't great, but you just never know whats going to happen. The universe is a mysterious place!!

When ownership doesn't prioritize winning over $$$.
You know its funny people say this as if winning means you lose money lol. The more you win the more money you make. The longer you win during a season the more money you make. Let's just call it what it is. Jerry wants to win his way. He's confident he can win his way.

Yeah the way people talk I really don't understand why they root for the Cowboys. Seems like it would be easier to be a Chiefs fan.

Harsh critics.

I think you’ll like next week’s lesson more. It’ll be on the history of ‘pyrrhic victories’ and meander it’s way to the conclusion that beating Washington isn’t worth the risk of losing Micah for the playoffs.

The league has 32 teams and there can only be one winner every year. It is hard to win in this league and sometimes a little luck has to do something with it too.

Maybe it is foolish to believe that you can build something that will win you the trophy every year. Should it be your goal, yes sure, but if you don't get there that doesn't mean you are fools gold.

Add in to the fact that I still enjoyed every one of those seasons. NFL football is exciting, its heartbreaking.... it bring s out emotions in me that nothing else can touch. That doesnt change if we dont win the SB. IM tired of these idiots and their BS. They should stop watching the games until we win a SB, then come back and watch again because then we will have real gold......smh
