Commonly known to majority as "FOOLS GOLD"
Pyrite received that nickname because it is worth virtually nothing, but has an appearance that "fools" people into believing that it is gold. With a little practice, there are many easy tests that anyone can use to quickly tell the difference between pyrite and gold.

The nickname "fool's gold" has long been used by gold buyers and prospectors, who were amused by excited people who thought they had found gold. These people did not know how to tell the difference between pyrite and gold, and their ignorance caused them to look foolish

So that takes us to our beloved Dallas Cowboys. For the past 27 years, this franchise has been fooling Cowboys fans with the new stadium, aka: Jerry's World, numerous seasons of .500 records with "the clapper", the traditional collapses after Thanksgiving and the year after year hearing this franchise "has so much talent". Romo has the franchise record of passing yards and TD passes, now we learn that Prescott ties Aikman with 165 TD passes. Neither Romo or Prescott can't get their team to a single NFC Conference game. Neither could even produce back-to-back playoff wins in a single season. Jerry gets on his weekly radio to sell more pyrite and it works. Cowboys are the richest sports franchise worth over 8 Billion. Every year is #1 in Forbes Magazine. The Cowboys get the highest TV ratings and highest attendance of any NFL team. All this without do anything---ON THE FIELD-- for 27 years. Not even a single NFC Conference game.

The selling of pyrite have left the Cowboys fans coming back for more because "fan" is short for FANATIC. Fans want to buy into anything that makes them feel good. I guess that is just part of being fan of anything. So until this franchise can actually buy the authentic nuggets of gold, the Dallas Cowboys franchise will keep selling pyrite and fan base will keep pointing to the 5 Superbowl rings when the franchise was GOLD !

And yet you keep getting fooled after all this years by posting this nonsense..:muttley:

what are you? wikipedia?
Only 13 of 32 franchises have won super bowls in those years. What about the other 18 besides the Cowboys? We dont have a god given right to championships. 32 professional organizations compete for the same thing and they are all trying their hardest. We are not being swindled.

I think a lot of fans see the emperor has no clothes.
They just have been fans a long time and have a sense of loyalty.
I know overcoming the culture that Jerry has created is going to make it very difficult to win in the postseason and just keep hoping for the best.
I have low expectations

I think most people are aware of what fool's gold is, so the first half of your post was unnecessary.

As for the rest, it's nothing we haven't read time and time again, but maybe being this close to the start of the playoffs, you should've waited until after...or did you just want to get this in before everyone else started complaining?

The old preemptive cry. He probably just wanted to get it out of the way now.

Before this season began I thought the Cowboys would finish at best with a 9-8 record and maybe 3rd place in the division.

After Dak hurt his thumb and it was announced he would miss 4 games or so, I thought the Cowboys would finish at best 5-12.

The Cowboys are 12-4, clinched a playoff spot with 3 weeks to go in the season and still have a chance for a 13-4 record, a division title, and the number 1 seed.

As far as I am concerned, we already struck gold. If they win a playoff game or even two, which they have shown they are capable of doing by beating the Bengals, Vikings and Eagles, it will be diamonds to go with my gold.

Of course it will be disappointing if they go one and done again, but they have far exceeded anything I could have imagined at this point considering the offseason and all the injuries they have sustained.

They should win the first playoff game and pretty much have as good a chance as any of the other teams if not better.

I don't understand why some of you watch football? Seriously. If you're this miserable, find a better way to spend your time. Life is short.

I get it, it's been a long and rough stretch being a Cowboys fan, and our GM sucks. It is what it is at this point. We can't change it, but that doesn't mean you can't enjoy the ride. For as much as this franchise frustrates me, I still love them, support them, and watch them every season. I get being cautious, but it's also OK as a fan to try and find some optimism or have some hope. The chances of winning the Super Bowl aren't great, but you just never know whats going to happen. The universe is a mysterious place!!
If our gm sucks, why do they have the best record in the NFC over the last 2 years?

It would be easier being a Chiefs fan. But I didn't grow up as one so I'm stuck here until hell freezes over.
The Chiefs went over 50 years between Super Bowl wins and have only won it twice. Mahomes has 1 Super Bowl win and that's it. What if that is the only one he gets like Rodgers? It had to be frustrating for them when they ran out of offensive tackles 2 years ago and got destroyed by the Bucs.
