I have a question.

I'm on a few MB's with the same username as I have here...I'm proud to be a Cowboys fan and am proud to show it

This seems to be an issue on several Cowboys boards and not so much on other boards, but it seems like (with a few exceptions) that fans of other teams feel the need to slide in the back door (so to speak), to register as a Cowboys fan then bash every single thing the team does....I personally have more respect for other teams fans that come here representing their team of choice and just talk football than I do for the ones that come in pretending to be a Boys fan.

I guess that's a differtence between Cowboys fans and those that are publicly ashamed of their team and feel the need to "hide" in a false representation.

Do any others tend to feel this way?

All I know is that most casual football fans don't really have a team, but live to hate on the Cowboys. It is like their main purpose is to follow us and wait for an opportunity to jump on the anti-Dallas bandwagon.

Either be a true cowboys fan or not, but don't just hate for no other reason to just hate. I have had people try to tell me how bad we are, etc yet they can't even name 4 players on the team. They are like sheep and following whatever the media spews out.

Why is the only option for fans who are displeased with the team that they they are fans of other teams infiltrating this forum incognito?

why is it that you think that is what the OP indicated?

Pretty much.

Some people think boards should be nothing but virtual pep rallies. Others think they exist to discuss it all -- good and bad.

I think its is quite evident that immaturity doesn't exclude itself from any team's fanbase.

really? if you think that is what the OP indicated then you need to learn some reading comprehension skills.

That was the impression that I got (good song) from the middle paragraph.

Great post, CL.

As someone who posts more on a rival's message boards than I do here (I also post on another Cowboys board more than this one as well) I think I have the answer.

I post on the Giants message boards quite a bit using the same name. They actually have a smack talk area, as do the Eagles with their 'rant and rave' section, Saints with their 'locker room' section, Bears, Vikings, etc.

Most Cowboys boards do not have a similar area. Which sucks because we could obviously have one of the cooler names for such a forum--something along the lines of 'the saloon' or 'the shootout'.

But it also makes sense. How many other fans would be infesting these boards if we did? Not the classy fans who can engage in friendly banter and intelligent debate, but rather the kind that will make cracks at Dez' mom and spell Romo's name with a capital H.

Therefore, you'll get the faux Cowboys fans here that just post to get a rise out of people and subtley bash the cowboys any way they can.

They want to talk smack with us but can't do it openly because the Cowboys boards are moderated far more strictly than any other message board for one very good reason:

We're the most hated team in football.

Football brings out some real passion in people and the Cowboys have been at the top of the pile for a long time. It comes with the territory. I for one do not mind it at all. I take it as a compliment really. It is jealousy towards an organization that has been a winning team for decades. Don't lose any sleep over it.

Especially when such an individual happens to be a well-known Mod we both know of on another Cowboys fan site — NEVER and NOT on CowboysZone — and they actively post as if a #1 fan of another team under a different member name. ;)

Blew my mind when I found out (i.e. you clued me in and I saw the proof for myself). The Wizard was revealed for who he actually was. Sad but true. *sigh*

But, in general, I know what you mean. Don't hide... at least not more than we all already do, lol. Pick a username and stick with it wherever you choose to post, is my thinking on the subject.

It's trolling in the worst way. What sucks the most is that it even gives the negative ***-holes on this site who are real fans a bad name.:D

I for one want to know who are the jerk-offs and who are just ***-holes.
