For Those of You Who Question Romo's Dedication...

No idea why I thought of this (maybe just watching out for my "drinking buddy when he's here in Orlando...just kidding)...Anyhow,

When I read of those who question Romo's dedication, or claim he has this "no big deal attitude," why when things go bleak does he sit on the bench, alone, with his head hung, looking like he's about to cry?

Now don't get me wrong. His quote after the Philly game was stupid. And personally I HATE his freeking body language sometimes (even that I just mentioned above), but if he really didn't care, if he really wasn't that invested would he act like that?

I don't think he would.

I don't question Romo's dedication, but the fire he had early on has definitely been quenched. There were games where they showed him sitting on the bench on the sidelines by himself looking like he didn't really care.

Now, was the T.O. show a big part of that? I'm hoping it was and that this season will be more like the Tony of old.

You mean like Troy Aikman?

Was it? I don't think so when taken in the full context of what he said rather than a sound bite.

I don't question his dedication. Never will. He has never missed a workout or practice.

He's looking better than ever so far.

My favorite part of all the Romo bashing is that he's been a starter for only two full seasons and he's already supposed to have 249 Super Bowl trophies on the mantle, lol.

Would that be the year where everyone was screaming for Stevie B. to play everyday?

And I agree on "context quotes," however, he put himself in the position by making a statement that allowed for a poor interpretation, and then not jumping up to defend himself made him look worse. Fair no, but that allows people to question you...

The difference is that neither of these two guys EVER have had their leadership questioned. Not the case with our guy...by the way...I AM DEFENDING TONY IN THIS THREAD...remember this (it has taken a weird tunr on me here.)

Man I preach this all the time. I don't know what they want from the guy. He's just getting his feet wet and he's been great doing..

I disagree. I think he had already demonstrated how much he did care and how much he was going to soul search. Read the entire context. It's clear as day.

Oh hell no. Peyton Manning was the guy who could not win a big game. Then he couldn't win it all. He was a stats machine, but had no heart. Do you really not know Peyton's History?

People questioned his ability to win the big game, but few have questioned his dedication to playing the game of football. This is the guy that has been called the greatest student of the game ever since his days at Tennessee. He spent more hours in the film room than anybody in the league. It was painfully clear that he WANTED to win and was dedicated to winning. He just had a mental block than kicked in in January

I also think the post of the thread is pointless. Not sure a picture of a QB with his head down proves anything. Lots of lazy people feel the pain of defeat. Also, i would think more people question his decision making. He is what he is. A young Favre but without the arm.

I'm not one of those who use things like body-language, words or whatever to determine if the guy can play or not.

He could jump up and down like a kid winning a toy car or something, it won't change what he does on the field. He knows what he needs to clean up, and once he does this, then people will stop talking about all of this outside stuff that means nothing.

I'm not sure what difference it makes parsing what people questioned about Romo v. what they questioned about Manning. Both groups are wrong.

A bunch of *******es question Tony's commitment b/c they want him to behave a particular way, not because behaving that way has any correlation to winning.

To a man, his teammates and coaches say they guy is unbelievably competitive and and a very hard worker. Fans can chose to think they're all lying, and to disregard the obvious proof that they're not when Tony goes out on the field, but that doesn't make the guy's commitment a subject for legitimate debate.

It's an idiotic topic and should be treated that way. People should be made to feel dumb for arguing about it even anonymously on a chat board.

I don't think many fans and media have questioned Romo's ability or heart, but what I often see questioned is his maturity. But that's largely been the case because the whole offense seemed to lack a sense of maturity. Then again, T.O. was the face of this offense thruogh last season, and thay don't come more imature than him. Hopefully with T.O. gone, Romo can now dispaly that maturity, and with it, that leadership, needed to win a Championship. But the ability and heart is already there.

The BIG difference between Tony and the other QBs you posted pictures of is that Tony had always been the smiling, happy-go-lucky, QB where everything seemed to just roll off of him. He would smile it all away.

Troy, Peyton and Brady were a lot more stoic and reserved. Seeing a QB with his head down and frustrated on the sidelines is fine with me. It means they care.

The times I was mentioning with Tony last year were when he was sitting on the bench just staring off into space like his head wasn't in the game. He didn't appear to be focused, but more apathetic. I'm not a face or mind reader, so it could just be me.

I like Tony and hope his team is able to play up to their ability to support him, unlike last year. I don't think he needs to carry us, actually, I think he needs to rely less on his "playmaking" abilities and more on his team to make plays.
