When we're winning, he's high fiving refs and joking around.

When we're losing, he's hanging his head moping. Then in the post game, 'if losing is the worst thing..etc'

Tony is a bright guy, but he seems really naive when it comes to perception and public opinino.

I guess no matter how many times you prove it was a sound bite after the Philly game some people still aren't going to get it.

"He's taking more of a leadership role, and you can see how excited he is," Austin told SportingNews.com. "He'd already been doing that -- he's a tremendous competitor -- but he's trying to be even more of that kind of asset to our team.

"You can tell. It goes without words. It's a feeling you get."

Another anecdote from an offensive player about Romo's competitiveness.

Tony is a bright guy, but he seems really naive when it comes to perception and public opinino.

First, I can't find where he said it (interview with Babe on channel 11, I think) but he said when he is sitting by himself, particularly after a bad series, he is thinking about what just happened and what they did in practice that week that may have addressed the issues they were having offensively.

Second, and this one just bugs the heck out of me, is that after the Seahawks playoff loss, everyone was worrying if Tony could ever recover from that. And when he shows he not only has recovered and has shown maturity and has his life in perfect prospective, he gets a kick in the nuts from the local media and hyper sensitive fans that he doesn't care.

You may not like what he said, but it is the truth and that's not his problem. It's the fan that can't get over a loss that has the problem. I suggest growing up a little.

Eli was about to be run out of town on a rail before the payoff run their Super Bowl year, now he’s one of the “Great Ones”. (Three previous playoff failures?)

Payton was a choker and could never win a big one, and after what, three tries he finally won a playoff game, and then wins a Super Bowl, he now has cemented himself as one of the “Greatest”.

Tony is just the next “Can’t get it done” QB. After Tony there will be another. And they will be until they finally do. But lets not jump the gun just yet.

I know, for Troy, in the Philly game the outcome was already decided. The problem I have with Romo is that he does his moping when the game is still in doubt.

He wears his hat backwards in interviews, that alone tells me he is not dedicated and does not respect the game.

Oh hell no. Peyton Manning was the guy who could not win a big game. Then he couldn't win it all. He was a stats machine, but had no heart. Do you really not know Peyton's History?

Trust me...I was playing baseball at Florida when he was getting beat by us every year...I know the big game knock before the Super Bowl. The thread was concerning dedication and leadership...not winning.

Tony has both and has exhibited it many times over.

I'm not one of those who use things like body-language, words or whatever to determine if the guy can play or not.

He could jump up and down like a kid winning a toy car or something, it won't change what he does on the field. He knows what he needs to clean up, and once he does this, then people will stop talking about all of this outside stuff that means nothing.

Body language speaks volumes...him getting down tells me he cares...it is not necessarily a bad thing and if he really didn't care he wouldn't act like this (that was my original point until all the sudden I was getting thrown in to comparison battles between Brady, Manning, and Aikman..what the heck happened here?)

I also think the post of the thread is pointless. Not sure a picture of a QB with his head down proves anything. Lots of lazy people feel the pain of defeat. Also, i would think more people question his decision making. He is what he is. A young Favre but without the arm.

The POINT was showing that this guy cares despite what his "haters" say. You cannot fake dejection like that. If he didn't care he would not act like that. That was my point.

I disagree. I think he had already demonstrated how much he did care and how much he was going to soul search. Read the entire context. It's clear as day.

Hos you can disagree but my point is this...by the way you and I are on the same page here...BUT by making statements that can be interpreted in a way such as these he put himself in a bad position. That is what was stupid.

Before this quote, which was taken out of context I would agree, the Jessica Simpson stuff put him in a bad position. Then it was golf. He has a tendancy to put himself in bad spots. heck even Troy called him out on it.

People lose track of the fact that he works on a different part of his game yearly. Two years ago it was throwing from different foot platforms. Last year it was release points. THE GUY CARES AND HIS BODY LANGUAGE SHOWS THAT HE DOES...that was my point. I just get tired of those claiming he doesn't.

I disagree with anyone who thinks who he dates and that he plays golf have anything to do with his dedication. I just find those two points of contention to be two of the dumber ones ever. Troy Aikman did not have a problem with those two things. He did say he would not have gone to Mexico. I don't see the problem with Mexico either.

There is literally no way Troy Aikman would care about who Tony dates. Troy had several "celebrity relationships" too.

No athlete would have an issue with him playing golf. Especially an athlete who plays golf. I would estimate that 90% or more of NFL players play golf. What is the difference between Tony playing golf and Eli Manning playing golf? The only difference is Tony is better at it. La Dee Freaking da. Where were the big deals about Owens playing basketball in the Celebrity hoops challenge? There weren't any, nor should there have been any.

No one can show me an article about Romo ever missing a workout or a practice. Not one single person here. Know why? He hasn't ever missed any. Tony's dedication is not the problem. Some fans interpretations of dedication is the problem. I think their synapses fire blanks.

You can think Romo needs to improve his game without being a “hater”. I am still a Romo fan but believe he needs to step it up and stop playing like a wussy. Just because a player is dejected doesnt mean he gave his everything to be the best he could be. See Irvin puking up his guts every workout? He gave his all and you saw the proof...he wont Championships, he is a winner.

Until Romo has proof...stop blowing smoke up my butt.

I only question his attitude, his decision-making, and his taste in women. And don't forget (or reflexively dismiss) that Werder source who accused him of being a goof-off in practice. Not everyone digs St. Tony.

Lets see one Ed Werder 'source' saying he's a goof off in practice or pretty much every player/coach whose been asked saying he practices and prepares hard....

*Holds hands out to side in a scale fashion*

Gee, I wonder which side I should think is more accurate...

The decision making I can agree with no problem. He does need to make some better decisions, and that is without question.

His attitude is fine, IMO, and who he dates has absolutely nothing to do with football. I'm sure you don't think so either, I'm just saying in general for those who believe it does.

Troy Aikman never dated anyone with the popularity of a Jessica Simpson. Tell you what, I don't even know what celebrity Troy dated so that should tell you how popular she was. As athlete/celebrity couples go Romo/Simpson is the most high profile in sports today. The only one that may give them a run is Tony Parker/Eva Longoria.

This assumes that teammates are commonly critical of each other in public. They aren't. With rare exception (i.e. TO and McNabb), it just isn't done that way. Just look at Tony being evasive about TO last week. Werder's source may have been lying or exaggerating about Tony's practice habits, but I don't doubt for a second that the unnamed player said it.
