... Saturday should provide him with ample opportunity to prove himself.

With Hurd hurting and Roy Williams most likely out, Austin should start with Patrick Crayton. It also might provide an opportunity for Stanback to prove he deserves a roster spot since he'll likely be the third receiver (if he's not, that should tell us all we need to know about what Dallas thinks of Stanback).

If the first team isn't effective without Roy Williams, that should also tell us all we need to know about our receiving corps.

I think it would tell more about Romo/Garrett.

screw that!! Ogletree should be lining up at 3rd WR if its the case of Hurd and Williams out the game. Ogletree has EARNED that right from his performance in practice and games plus its a great opportunity for the coaches to really see what they have in Ogletree with him going against a starting D. and FWIW I really hope Hurd is able to play in this game cause it'll be a really big opportunity for him to show up against a starting D

If Romo has to check down because the receivers aren't getting open, or throw to tight ends after going through reads to his receivers, then the receiving corps isn't good enough.

Garrett and Romo have to do their part, but so must the receivers.

If Ogletree lines up as the third receiver, then it tells us everything we need to know about Stanback (that's why I put that in the parenthetical phrase).

I agree. Plus, if we gotta find any positive in this, it's that it's a great opportunity to work up a gameplan that focuses on the TEs/RBs as part of the passing game.

I am so done with Stanback. I don't know what Dallas thinks but I sure as hell think Ogletree is my guy over Stanback.

I wanna see Ogltree and Austin start. I know what Crayton brings.

I really hope we take at least some shots down the field. Clements can be burned easily.

I don't understand why Cowboys fans hope that the third receiver will be Ogletree over Stanback? Shouldn't we be hoping that both of these guys have success, since that would be better for our team and we wouldn't have wasted a fourth-round pick?

I understand believing one player is better than the other, but not rooting for both guys ... for all Cowboys just doesn't make sense to me.

This is an opportunity and I hope Austin can capitalize on it. And I hope Stanback can capitalize on it. And I hope Ogletree can capitalize on it. Because if they do, that makes the team I root for better.

With Hurd and Williams likely out, this is a perfect opportunity for Amendola to step up.

If we already had our 53 man roster locked and in place than the point you made would be valid but this is a whole different circumstance seeing how more than likely we'll be carrying 5WRs. Seeing that the top 4 are already locked that 5th is up for grabs meaning that either Ogletree or Stanback makes the team at the expense of the other person. I'm sorry but I'm in the Ogletree camp cause the dudes an already polished reciever with a ton of upside. Stanbacks had his time to learn and be under this system but with pretty much nilch production at his position the potential tag thats followed him the past few seasons is worth beans right now and him making the roster is not worth it being at the expense of a pretty good young WR that already knows how to play the position. Its a competition right now and the loser more than likely going home so theres nothing wrong with fans ponying up on who they feel should win the battle its only natural

IMO it's because we keep higher round busts or failed projects like Stanback and Barbie on the roster for years despite clear evidence of their worthlessness.
