If Randle carries the ball 250 times and his YPC is 3.97 that will be a average RB's numbers.
We need the other backs to carry the ball 150 times.
If those other RB's aren't on the team a new guy will be brought in.

I was hopeful for Gus cause i like the bruiser type RB
and like said previously our line is built for the tough "dirty yards" RB.

I do wish a RB was drafted but it didn't fall that way.
Also as someone suggested maybe we can stash a RB on the PS.

Durability will be a major concern all year with the current RB stable. McFadden and Dunbar have both proven to be injury prone, so Randle is the guy we look to for consistency from week to week. This past week should be no indication on Randle's durability because he wasn't playing regardless of his health status. A little back tightness is normal for this point in camp.

I hope there's a 4th RB on the roster come week 1, even if the top 3 guys are 100% healthy. This guy might not come until after final roster cuts.

My point was one bad showing isn't the end of the world. Dez wasn't out there to keep the defense honest. Randle and McFadden didn't play.

So calm down.

I dont think anyone is worried about the HBs play Thursday. Neither of those players are expected to make the roster. I think peopleare worried about the lingering injuries to some of the backs that are expected to make the roster. McFadden in particular

Shady McCoy only averaged 2.6 YPC on 6 carries in his debut with Buffalo.

Its only preseason....back off the ledge.

The worry does not stem from the lack of production in a worthless week 1 preseason game.

It comes from the unreliable three backs that management placed their faith on. So far, they are doing their usual unreliable things.

I've said it before...if there was ever a year where we may carry 4 RBs, this is it.
Hard to do when you have a FB as well.
But it wouldn't surprise me.

When I read DMC wants to practice and play but Stephen and Jerry won't let him, how is that his fault? When they hold Randle out as a precaution like the Cowboys and every other team in the league does I don't hold that again the player either. So many fans getting their undies in a bind over our RB's it's really something to watch. The fact is DMC and Randle would have both played last Thursday night if that game was a regular season game.

Who would be worried about our run game based on yesterday?

The concern is based on what the Cowboys have at RB and that 3 of their backs are injured including one that has a lengthy injury history.

Randle can carry the goods.

The question is how big a load can he carry effectively. He's never had more than 14 carries in a game and that led to a 3.4 rushing average. He's averaged 3.4, 1.9, 1.5, and 2.8 with 10 plus carries.

At least he played and has a good track record. Everybody knows what he can do. Nobody knows what these backs will do except get injured.

Pretty much. No one is worried about the production we are seeing on the field. We are worried because these guys are so unknown. Well except McFadden. We know what he can do and it's not good.

If we had a proven back here and he didn't do much of anything, no one would care. It's the uncertainty of the position.
