What are the chances that a DT or DE is the best player on the board at our current pick in the second round based on projected value?

How far do you think starting quality players at those two positions will last in this draft? Will all of them be gone by our pick in the second?

50/50
Draft is deep at those spots but because it’s loaded several teams will pick them dropping talent at other positions down

I think a safety at 58 will be a 4 year starter while a Dlineman will be a role player to groom as a possible starter at some point down the line.

It's one thing to guess who could fall to 19th but when the first pick is at 58th overall it's becomes much more difficult.

A trade up could start a run on DE/DT's or the draft may lean heavy on another position when day 2 rolls around.

I would say odds are there still should be a good DT/DE at 58 but if they are BPA? No clue.

I am most certainly no draft expert. but I doubt a top dt or de will still be on the boards that late in the second round. but one can always get lucky and get a sleeper. that's our best option for now.

Tremendous value for dline in 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Lawrence, Collins, and Crawford should make that clear. Literally 75% of our starters.

I'm not super happy with that group though. Collins is often injured or playing hurt, Crawford is reliable and solid but he's never been a high production guy. DLaw is really good but he's expensive and just one guy.

It's a good core but it needs some playmakers injected in. I'm starting to like the idea of trading DLaw for a 1st and going dline with both the top two picks.

This, same group that gave up almost 300 yards on the ground game to rams and Goff played like s---.

Very good prospects in this draft, Cern. DT's might even be 11 or 12 deep.

But will this FO pull the lever in round 2 for a DT. Lord knows we need one, but when was the last time the Cowboys drafted a DT in round one or two? Russell Maryland?

I doubt it. I don't think we're smart enough to understand the value of one, nor do I believe we understand how to evaluate one.
