For you draft experts

And when we do go after them, we always wiff on lateral agility and burst. We tend to focus on height and sometimes I'm not sure what else.
There are very few great Safeties in the draft after round 2 or 3. I’m still not that impressed with Xavier Woods. He’s a good backup or in a nickel role but he wouldn’t start for over 20 teams in this league. Saw him play in college twice at Louis. Tech. He does not have much upside. A decent NFL player that will never be a difference maker IMO. Heath...great special teamer. Also probably a good role player.

A Darren Woodson copy would be great. And...Not some overpaid 30 year old who’s missed 19 games in 3 years with some serious injuries. Wink.

Woodson was a 2nd rounder. We don't draft S's that high.

Isn’t there a DT that was supposed to be a top 10 pick but has off field issues and hurt his knee? That will be JJ second round pick.

Yep, Simmons. Sadly, it's entirely possible. Einstein's definition of insanity explains why Jerry is often regarded as delusional. For whatever reason, he seems to think he'll get away with repeating the same mistake but expects different results. Ignoring red flags is what he does routinely. More often than not, it comes back to haunt him and the team as well. I wouldn't be surprised if it's in the cards once again, though. ;)

trade down and pick up another 3rd... look for a trade partner in the bottom of the second.
Tillery... Notre Dame
Willis... Miami
Saunders... Western Illinois
Just a couple prospects for those that are interested.

I'm surprised nobody has mentioned Jaylon Ferguson yet. He should still be there when we draft in the 2nd. He broke Terrell Suggs' NCAA all time sack record. He had 17.5 sacks as a senior with 65 total tackles and 26 tackles for loss. In his career, he had 45 sacks, 187 tackles and 67.5 tackles for loss.

He's explosive at both RDE and LDE and led the nation in sacks last year.

He was uninvited to the combine for being convicted of battery 4 years ago. The kid got in a fight 4 years ago. Big freakin deal. Dude can straight bring it.

I liked him until the Senior Bowl, where he was mostly manhandled by NFL quality OL's. Love his quickness off the ball though. Maybe just needs some technique work? May lack instincts.

What are the chances that a DT or DE is the best player on the board at our current pick in the second round based on projected value?

How far do you think starting quality players at those two positions will last in this draft? Will all of them be gone by our pick in the second?

We'll have a rd 1 pick once we trade DLaw

That pretty much sums him up. Played in a weaker conference and was a man among boys. He got by with pure speed, explosiveness and quickness off the ball.

Learning from NFL coaches and having a guy like Tank help him with his technique could make him a bargain in the late 2nd. He has 1st round talent but just needs some help to put it all together.

And who are we to question!?
Look at all of those SB victories the last two decades
Lol. Yeah and there’s no one who can question the naked emperor Jones either! Surrounds himself with family and people who tell him he’s great rather than the truth.

Ferguson is a good college player BUT....beware the college highlight films because of the competition the player is up against. Especially the ones against opponents like Rice, UTEP, S. Mississippi, etc. Those teams may have one or two guys get invited to an NFL camp, but most of the highlights are against guys who wouldn’t make some Power 5 conference rosters, much less the NFL.

I’m not saying Ferguson is no good, but I would tap the brakes a little. He’s certainly got stats and I think he’s a good player who deserves to be drafted but he may or may not be a legit 2nd rounder. Nothing against him, but most guys who don’t invited to the combine rarely get drafted before round 3.

I think the biggest prosepct that might possibly be there is Jaylon Ferguson. The off the field stuff might drop him. That and some teams arent sold on him.

He was invited but it got rescinded because of charge

You must have missed my last post above. #35 I pretty much said the same thing as you.I'm not saying he's the next LT but he has the skills to be a good DE with some good coaching and work on his technique. Tank could help him a lot.

He was originally invited to the combine until they discovered the battery conviction which violates their rules.

He might turn out to be a bum but he has huge upside. I was just throwing out options for what should be there when we pick.
