Former 'Boys QB White: 'I can't even imagine' Romo's pressure'...

Well, if it is worse, Tony is being more than compensated financially for it.

Danny was just being kind to a fellow QB alumnus. It's called "professional courtesy." Roger and Troy rarely call him out in public, either. When they do, it's in the most gentle way imaginable.

I'm not one who blindly accepts anything a player says. I sort through them to see what makes sense. Not impressed with most of what I hear from Everson or Pearson these days.

But I think it makes total sense to believe Danny White when he expresses sympathy for the pressure Romo deals with. I don't recall him saying the same thing about Drew Bledsoe or Quincy so I suspect this is genuine.

With today's media magnification versus when White played I have no problem believing Romo's pressure is comparable to White's back in the day. It's not a ridiculous assertion.

Comparatively, no doubt. And scrutiny bothers some more than others. On the other hand I'm not one who has no sympathy for what others endure simply because they have money. Nor do I believe that just because someone has lots of money that we're entitled to shoot them full of holes (figuratively)

Certainly not implying you do either but I do think some of these guys get dehumanized along the way by some.

Troy Aikman made a point of defending Tony Romo's honor this week, and now another former Cowboys quarterback has come to the aid of Dallas' under-the-gun leader.

Danny White, who spent his career in the shadow of Roger Staubach, knows the pressure Romo's under, but acknowledged that heat's intensified in recent years.

"When I played it was a long time ago," White told Compass Radio Network on Sunday, via the team's official site. "Quarterback in Dallas, Texas, was under a microscope. It has now become an electron microscope.

I have always liked Danny. Straight shooter who makes good sense.

Well, the whole "pressure" angle is a bit of a non-sequitur, anyway. Romo was playing at home with a fat lead. It wasn't pressure that prompted those interceptions but rather carelessness.

I'm certainly not referring to pressure on Romo in THAT game situation. Neither is White. I also don't see White implying its performance affecting. No one is saying that.

Yes, Romo is under the biggest microscope simply because he QB's the Cowboys. No other reason. BUT, we ARE America's Team. So it comes with the territiry. We can't take pride in and defend the America's Team legacy of our team and then compalin about the unfair scrutiny this team faces.

That why I called it a non-sequitur. Danny should worry more about Tony's gameday decisions instead of whether he's "loved" enough.

Because he makes enough money that he should be immune to emotions right?

What the hell is this? Oprah? As people here are fond of saying, "Toughen up, buttercup."

Oh course they're human and of course that doesn't excuse fans who get out of line with their hate.

But let's be honest, if there's greater scrutiny, there's also greater fame on the good side of it, too. Tony has gotten a ton of love over the last several years. It's not all those haters making his the best-selling jersey in the NFL.

And on that score, I don't think he's gotten nearly the scorn Danny got. Danny was almost in a no-win situation following Roger. Romo came in and saved the franchise from scraps like Quincy, Vinny, Hutch, and Drew (both of them).

I think we should ring up Drew Bledsoe or Jeff George...

I always felt Danny White was under more pressure than any Cowboys QB because he took over for Roger Staubach and was left with a team that Roger led to a championship just 2 years earlier.

Well that can afflict any QB these days. Tony should count his blessings that he doesn't work in a city with tabloids.

ESPN is the ultimate tabloid, so it doesn't really matter where you work, it matters who you work for. The Cowboys are a fan draw, so they are a media draw.

Just curious but why should white worry about either? He doesnt play for dallas or coach there or anything so I don't see why he has any reason to worry about either or care about which one fans or the media feels is the more important.

Garret can let Romo loose, but he just has to know when to put the animal back in the cage...and when to let the beast attack again

Once we put our animal, in better situations, there is no reason we shouldn't go deep into the playoffs and maybe snag the whole thing

Defense is light out...Offense is a power house, it's all down to mistakes...even the O-line is light's out

Yeah but back then, there wasn't commentators saying how much you suck on tv 24/7. I think it is being taken wrong, sure White had pressure, but I don't think he means it the way you guys are taking it.

There still just a little bit of romanticism of sports back then, even if it was decreasing. Now we break them down or build them up on a minute by minute basis. This is the difference I believe White is talking about.

I would suggest that one of his peers, Eli Manning, who plays in the media capital of the world, does not receive as much fan and media attention as Tony Romo. It may not honestly be that wide of a margin, but there is a good amount of sunlight shining between the space separating both of them in my opinion.

Statement is dumb *** dumb or just plain silly. Take your pick.

He shouldn't. But if he's gonna go public with his opinions, he should address things that are relevant to Tony's troubles lately--like game management, not media fallout.
