FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. -- Former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Matt Jones has completed his stint in drug court.
Matt Jones, WR
Career Statistics
Seasons: 4
Receptions: 166
Yards: 2,153
Touchdowns: 15
Jones was arrested in 2008 on suspicion of cocaine possession and, as part of a plea agreement, was ordered to participate in NFL-sponsored substance-abuse counseling and undergo random drug testing through the end of the football season.
The Jaguars released Jones, their 2005 first-round draft pick, in March after he failed a drug and alcohol test. Jones said at the time that he'd had beers while golfing with friends.
Jones, who played quarterback at the University of Arkansas, "graduated" from Washington County Drug Court on Monday, and his felony cocaine possession charge was dismissed.
Jones said he has learned from his mistakes and that he hopes an NFL team will make him an offer to play in 2009.
Jones set career highs last season in receptions (65) and yards (761) in just 12 games. He also scored two touchdowns.
