radio interview in Grand Rapids , MI yesterday. Mooch's comments were tempered but revealing IMO:

Said he's talented but "some guys are never happy no matter what"

Said he isnt' healthy because doesn't put in the work that elite WR's need to

Also said he hopes he gets his act together because the boys are "paying him alot of money".

I thought he got down to brass tacks actually

Rw is 1) moody 2) not healthy because his work ethic sucks 3) a mental trainwreck and drag on the team because even though he's physically gifted, he expects things to be handed to him: nothing new I guess just another perspective agreeing with 90% of the posters on here......

Here's to hoping he is more mature now than he was when he was drafted.

Hopefully the intense scrutiny can make that old dog learn new tricks. Detroit isn't Dallas and he didn't get nearly as much attention. If he has a modicum of self respect it may just influence him to try and better himself.

He's surrounded by a bunch of guys excelling in their positions (something he obviously did not have in Detroit), it should rub off on him.

Maybe I'm misremembering but all the reports out of valley ranch during the ota's and preseason was Williams was busting his tail getting ready this year. Even pumped iron, I understand Mooch was his coach but he isn't now so how does he know how he works out these days. Is he in Dallas everyday watching him prepare and work out or is he remembering when Roy was the only bright spot on a perrenial 3-13 team. I'm not sticking up for him but I don't want him to fail cause that means JJ wasted two picks and our Boys are playing with what was once a very short while ago a dynamic receiver. Think of what a duo of him and Austin could be if Romo learns how to use him. (or Garrett). I would rather be optimistic that our offense gets completely on the same page before the playoffs or December and become an even more formidable force than Austin and a 2.5-3 receiver which is anyone else.

While I can say that I generally like Mariucci, I somehow find myself showing pause at what he thinks is a willing and winning mentality of a football player or a football team. His run in SF was fair with superior talent, and his run in Detroit was abject failure in totality.

He speaks as if he has inside knowledge of Roy's work habits. The question is if so- when and where has he witnessed any of the traits expressed before the viewing public?

While I am no fan of Roy's at the moment- and question his ability and work ethic myself- I will have to side with Tony's assessment of Roy as the only meaningful one in the whole story.

Tony says he will get it going, then I believe him. Because Tony is a great QB with ghosts of his own to chase and I don't think he'd want someone that couldn't help him do so in the starting line-up regardless of who it was.

If anyone thinks that if Tony went to RHG or Jerry and said "I'm done with Roy" and something wouldn't be done is just not seeing the big picture.

What health issues does Roy have besides his ribs? And what workout is there to overcome getting blasted to the ribs?

My thought exactly. Maybe he means "out of shape."

IMO, Roy looks about as in shape as he has since he got to Dallas.

None of this is news. All of it was known before Roy Williams ever entered the NFL.

Yeah, whatever his problems are, not being in shape doesn't appear to be one.

Everyone has their opinion on why it's not working, though.

True, which makes me wonder what Mooch is getting at.

Mariucci is just getting more airtime by riding the current anti-Roy bandwagon that is parading around town.

He's only had one season I know of that he's played in every game.

1.) I remember the same thing this off-season.

2.) That's pretty much where I am, too. I hated the trade to begin with, but now that it's done I just want the whole damn thing to atleast give a glimmer of hope that it will work out. I don't think I'll ever be of the opinion that the trade was worth the price, but a modest return (at this point) would help ease the pain.
