Fowler for Dat, but when?

Everyday Fowler gets more pub for being a big tough ILB while dat gets no press, unless you count the one clipping where he was limping off the field and concerned he wasn't doing well in this 3-4...

Its not a question of if, but when IMHO...

I like my starters as:
Ware, James, Burnett & Fowler...

Burnett & Fowler might not start right away, but sooner or later they will...

Tiny Dat & Shanle are better suited for Nickle/dime pkgs & ST play...

A whole lot of people have written Dat off from day one. GUESS WHAT?
HE is still here and his co called BETTERS are not. HE is still starting and where are they? Dat will be dat guy for a long time yet.

As a person who "see's" whats going on inside the play, I can tell who CAN make plays and who is missing them...(Don't wear rose collored glasses)

Dat could & would excell as a Nickle/dime & ST player...As is...NO big plays from the lil guy...He can/could use what he does have in abundance...INSTINCTS to read 3rd down plays and be a BIG part of us doing better then what we have sucked at for a long time now...(Stopping 3rd down conversions)
He simply wears down, gets beat up, misses too many tackles, can't take on blockers, can't rush the passer and won't last even if he does start in this 3-4 D...

Fowler has been CRUNCHING players left & right on defense in his suited 3-4 and on ST's, the guy is a PLAYER!
So maybe James does go outside? But this guy will earn PT this year!

I thought we were not good last year in 3rd downs but in 2003 we were top 10 or maybe top 5 in that catagory. Not really that long ago but I understand your meaning.

Yeah, for setting records for tackles Dat sure sux. For knowing more about the 3-4 than anyone else on the team except for Parcells, he sux. He's one of our best defensive players and is "captain" above everyone else - including Roy.

In fairness if Fowler shows Parcells he is the best option then great put in him there but having said that I highly doubt that will be the case, more than once Parcells has praised the work of Dat and says he is one of the few players he does not worries about when it comes to doing their job.

Dat may not be the prototype ''Big'' ILB, but the guy is FOOTBALL Player. Same thing for Coakley. They are solid NFL players IMO. Too many teams get stars in their eyes when they look at the physical stats of these athletes, forgeting that the most important atribute is being a Football Player.

How do I say this? You can't have enough good linebackers in the 3-4. The best situation of all is too have so many good inside linebackers you're forced to rotate all of 'em.

So, when does Fowler replace Dat? In the best of all worlds, when Dat retires .

As Parcells is doing with Glover & Ellis, freeing them of alot of early vs the rush % downs...Letting them excell & be fresher for passing downs!

I don't think Dat is the best option as a everydown LBer for us any more...

We have other players that have passed him in talent with regards to being able to best help the team in 1st & 2nd downs...

I like Fowler, James & Shanle over dat in those early downs inside...

Again, Dat can be best used in nickle/dime & special team pkgs...Where he can best use those quality instincts that he has for big plays then without wearing down...

It comes from you all off season with now that Bill is running the defense along with Todd Bowles BS. Now you don't like something personel wise and you whin about Zimmer so come clean before the season. I gave you my thoughts on your dumb ars comments and that is Dat is the starter get use to it!!! Now who runs the damn defense because this crap of blaming Zimmer when you don't like something and Praising others when you do does not float!
