The dude missed his last year of college cuz of COVID. He was injured the first two years in the NFL and was under tremendous pressure to prove he was worth the haul 40 whiners gave up for him. This is a good move. It only costed a 4th. Don't know how anyone can't like this. He gets to sit behind Dak and learn with a elephant off his back. Read a post here complaining Cowboys never address the back up QB position. Now we do and it's a bad move. Lol!!
Some posters are never happy.....

Yet he's only once out of his four seasons had a better passer rating than Lance did in his second season. Yes, it was a small sample, but I prefer that to exaggerations.
What?

Sounded good.

There isn't a GM in the league other than this idiot in Dallas that would take Lance over Minshew to win a game this year.

I prefer that to fan boy nonsense.

If you want to post the stats that show what I'm talking about, I'm good with it. 2021, Lance's QB rating was 97.3. The only year Minshew's has been higher was that same year.

Fan boy nonsense is making ludicrous comparisons. I have no idea how Lance will turn out. I'm not expecting much. But I'm willing to wait and see how it plays out. You and others on this board are reactionaries.

Well Mazi has yet to play a real NFL game with the starting defense yet hes been labeled a bust. Doesn't take much for players to get called busts around here. Heck even UDFAs will get called busts after a single bad performance. not sure how undrafted players can be labeled bust but they do.

I posted their entire career stats.

I don't care if you're willing to wait and see. If Lance was traded to the Eagles you wouldn't be willing to wait and see and talk nonsense about a players rating in two games. You'd just be acknowledging what a complete POS he's been since he's been in the league. So bad that in just a couple of years after the 49ers gave up a ransom for the stiff, they move him to a rival for a day 3 pick.

That speaks much more than your laughable two game rating from a couple of years ago.

Neither are going to be here on cutdown day Tuesday
Maybe maybe not. You are inserting certainty where there is none. Simi had a shot if we keep 6 WR and Gallimore has been playing better this preseason and he had an outside shot as well.

The point is that the opportunity cost is fringe roster players like those two.

You have demonstrated clearly that you cannot evaluate QBs worth a flip. You backdoor "analysis" here only cements that.

Dak plays better when he's chasing after his job..
Agreed. Also think this move is so Dak doesn’t have all the leverage in the next contract negotiation. If Dak is blah this year or unreasonable we can walk away and have a guy Who was a top 5 pick. Geno Smith developed with time and thats how it used to be. So if nothing else Jerry doesn’t have to overpay Dak and feel like he has nothing to work with if he walks away.

Don't you know that it's only a bad move when the Cowboys do it?

I don’t really care that this is a move the Eagles would make. Here’s what I care about. Jerry stated prior to the draft we would “look into the QB position “. The draft came and went and no QB. Now we got a QB in the 4th round that at one time, not too long ago, was the 3rd overall pick. If he didn’t have the physical ability he wouldn’t have been drafted this high. Jerry came through on a promise. Even typing that is weird for me. Jerry came through on a promise. He invested in the QB position and all of our eggs are not in the Dak basket.

To me it’s significant and sends a message that Jerry wants to win if he is willing bring in a QB that was drafted at one time to be a franchise guy. A lot of us, me included, did not like how Dak had no one to compete with. Well now he knows if he doesn’t get it done Jerry is willing to replace him.

If Dak falters in the playoffs or against playoff caliber defenses then we have a guy in house to compete against him. I feel it’s a great move than spending a 1-3 pick on a QB that may or may not develop in next year’s draft. It’s a good risk reward, boom or bust gamble. And Jerry only gambled a 4th rounder. If it sucks well we’re used to Jerry gambling on picks anyway. I’m happy he’s gambling with a QB.

I agree with this. The team only lost a 4th, and there's a chance this guy becomes the real deal with the monkey off his back. If he doesn't, it doesn't break our back. It's not like we gave up two first rounders for him (harhum, Joey Galloway).
