I started off laughing at the idea of Deon as Cowboys coach, but the more I've listened to guys who played with him on deferent teams and on the Cowboys, the more I've softened my stance. If you listen to Nate Newton, you'd think Deon is the best x's and o's guy on the planet and the best at teaching player and building culture. Nate said, put him on the white board, you'll see he is a savant. He sees it, understands it, and knows what to do and how to explain it. He gave some specific examples from his time in Dallas and at Colorado listening to him work with players at all positions.
Deon has been successful at everything and everywhere he's been. Maybe he's be a huge failure, but I'm more intrigued than ever.
Which is why it will probably never happen.
