Fox Sports SW: Matt Mosley Predicts Dallas Will Select Tyron Smith at # 9

Missed the edit. Merge

I think the dropoff in tier-1 is at about 10. After Julio Jones goes at 9(CLE or STL) or 10. The next tier runs about 10 more deep and are all almost interchangeable. Prince, Carimi, Castanzo, Solder, Cameron Jordan, and Watt all could go to the Cowboys and one will be there at around 20 or so. So basically a player at 13 is almost equal to a player around 20. So youre better off getting the blue-chiper in the top 10 and getting someone from the next grouping of talent w/ your next pick

No doubt, I totally agree. Trading down out of the Top 10 severly lessons the chances of a blue chip prospect in the 2011 Draft.

It would be very disappointing to watch the Cowboys leave one or more 1st tier Athletes on the table via trade down.

biggest misconception amongst cowboys fans. why in the world would the cowboys move free to right tackle when he graded out of the better left tackles in the nfl? does not compute does not make any sense.

Just because he graded out as the Cowboys best offensive lineman doesn't mean he was one of the best LT's in the NFL.

few things to consider here...Smith has never played LT and always played at 280...he added bulk for pro day..but can he keep weight on? He is an athletic freak with 36 1/2-inch arms and size 11 hands and has big pro day...but I am still little nervous taking OT this early for production only from RT.

If Smith is the guy, is he someone we can plug in from day 1 and start at RT? Or is he a project with high potential? I just don't want our 1st rounder to be a question mark. We need someone at #9 to come in and start right away hopefully.

I think Smith can come in and start day one at RT and has the potential to become a LT. Now I wouldn't draft him based on potetnial. I would draft him to be the RT though but not at 9. I don't think Smith is going to be a great RT. He isn't your classic RT type. Not a head hunter and not a great road grader in the run game. If we trade back to 11-13 and get him then I'm fine.
SF took Davis last year at 11 and he is just a RT with the potential to become a LT.
