Look, I love Jimmy. But, I've read this twice and both times it reads in Emmitt's voice inside my head.

Felix ran a 4.48....He Has Speed...

Miles Austin just out there swaggin wit the speed

he's quicker than he's fast. he can change direction/cut on a whim. felix has been caught from behind a few times.

4.47 is probably slower than most cb's.

I'm sorry. I re-read that and it didn't make sense to me either. What I meant was that Jimmy's article read as rough as Emmitt's live analysis.

remember miles ran that 4.47 with added weight when he bulked up to around 230 pounds for the combine. he's toned it down 15 pounds or so. i wouldnt be surpised if he ran close to 4.4 or less now. remember he ran the 100m in college in the 10's. not sure *** jimmy is thinking.

it made perfect sense. i think he was trying to point out that you used the word read incorrectly and made the connection that your mistake was emmittesque. you used it correctly.

This is such a choppy "article" that it's difficult to really make much of it. On one hand, it seems rather absurd to say Austin doesn't have speed. On the other hand, his game absolutely is not based on straight-line speed like DeSean Jackson's.

When I think speed guys, I'm thinking Jackson, Randy Moss, Galloway from years ago, even a Ginn despite his overall ineffectiveness over the years. I think I'd put Austin more in the style of an Andre Johnson -- a big body capable of breaking tackles and getting by people, but not a guy who runs a bunch of straight-line stuff 40 yards down the sideline.

1.I doubt it...Most CBs is 4.45-4.57 guys...Miles falls comfortably in that range.

2.I was just made a subtle joke at my boy emmitt...like emmitt and reading don`t belong in the same sentence.

I'm lost like a dam Easter Egg on Christmas right now. Side note, I'm pretty sure I will not sleep from now till Sunday night.

Miles Austin is is fast. Most WR's in this league will get caught by DB's from behind.

Austin is one of the select who wont.

I agree, but I also kind of agree with Jimmy. Austin is fast, but he isn't as quick as some others. Give him 3-4 steps and he's really fast. Others might be a half step quicker in those first 3-4 steps.

Wasnt Miles 235 LBS. out of college? If so, that explains how he might be timed better now.

Jimmy stills knows what he is talking about. And Garrett should have known that too. After all, when he was the backup in Dallas, there wasn't a WR with speed. Alvin Harper was fast, but not like Terry Glenn. Irvin was strong, but not overly fast. Kelvin Martin was quick, but not that fast.

Now, he is strong and he has a great burst, but he doesn’t have any separation speed. That is probably why he wasn’t in the lineup earlier in the season. He’s really not a fast guy, but he does break tackles and he does make big plays. His first touchdown against the Saints was a double move against a zone coverage. That score make him appear fast, but if you lock onto him man-to-man he doesn’t get away from you.

I hate argue Coach Johnson's point but there are only a handful of wide receivers in football who have this kind of deep speed to beat man coverage consistently. Even those that do do not have the total package. Austin is fast enough.

Short area quickness is one of the best qualities any receiver can have.

Deep speed is entirely overrated unless you are running an offense Al Davis would give up his walker for.
