Why would he want to coach for the eternal laughing stock that is the Detroit Lions?

Parcells once said something to the effect of "coaching the cowboys is akin to being in the Las Vegas BIG ROOM, not the side show" something like that

why take sideshow? anyone have the actual quote?

Be very very mindful of the way Parcells has exited other jobs...

The Giants...he walked out just before the beginning of training camp..leaving the Giants scrambling and ultimately having to go with Ray Handley...

He left the Pats in such a disgraceful way that he didn't even take the plane ride home with his players...

When he left the Jets the situation became a MESS...

He flirted with Tampa..and left them at the alter...to a lesser degree did the same with the Falcons.

I dont expect a nice ending to this chapter in his life...I HOPE for one...but there's a saying about a leopard and his spots...

So...while I think the Detroit thing doesnt make much sense...it does remind me of how Parcells has left in the past..and it AIN'T pretty.

Sounds like bull to me.

Plus like no way he would go to Detroit. What they are at this very moment is anti- what Parcells has done in Dallas. Going for the prime players first with absolutely no depth built around them. It's really a joke that they think they could build a team like that.

I get the real impression that Parcells is about the happiest he's been in his coaching career also, right here in Big D.

What was that he compared the Cowboys to when he first accepted the job... "the big stage in Vegas" or something like that. So what would Detroit be like....the Bunny Ranch?

Yea I won't believe an ounce of this rumor until I see some real proof of Bill's discontent with the Cowboys or Jerry. And I haven't seen nil of that yet.

Well, ya know, it's just the facts...With the exception of the Giants, Parcells has left organizations better than when he arrived...his legacy, influence has been a positive...

But...I'm really not expecting a graceful exit...as I said, I'm hoping for one but if he pulls another one of his EXIT STAGE LEFT routines, it wouldn't at all surprise me.

It is unlikly it will happened mybe if Bill Parcels younger but not now

Jerry and the cowboys ( players and fans) don't deserve all of this of if Bill percels walk out on them, and he will make a fool out of himself.if it did happepend .
will all the Bill Parcels'guys on the team leave with him too?
unless something going on between him and Jerry ( wanting T.O opening the offense ...peerless prices experiment etc..., Bill and Jerry are too smart to mess it up...but things has happend no one thought jimmy johnson would leave either.

I agree, Juke... I think Parcells likes it here, especially the team he's put together, but you can't ignore his past. And it's a little curious to me how Parcells refuses to address his future here, and also how Jerry got very snappy with Norm Hitzges when he asked Jerry about a possible extension for his coach. Jerry very sternly refused to say one word about it, and even sounded angry when he said it, which he never does with Norm.

Not that that means anything by itself, but it was a little strange...

So I would be surprised if Parcells decided to take another job, but I wouldn't be shocked, either.

Mike, I had to double check their depth chart to see where all that talent is. Besides receiver, I just don't see it. Jones may turn out to be OK but besides that?
And when has Parcells ever liked flashy receivers? He didn't want Glenn to begin with, didn't draft Keyshawn, and went with pretty average guys with the Gints. I consider Glenn and Key to be workmanlike performers at this point.
And you know how Parcells hates mistake prone QBs cough-JoeyHarringtonandorJeffGarcia-cough.
I'll kiss a 'skins fan if Parcells end up in Detroit for anything besides a plane change.

Really?

Give me Rogers and the Williams boys from their receiving core.

Give me Woody, ex-Husker Raiola, and Backus.

Give me the ex-Longhorns Redding and Rogers and throw in Wilkinson as well on their Defensive Line.

I would also take Boss Baily and Dre Bly too.

Say for instance Parcells cut all the guys I just mentioned because what you are saying "they aint Parcells guys", they would get picked up by another club so fast it wouldnt even be funny.

These young guys are a victim of poor coaching. Mariucci should have been fired and Millen should fire himself too.

That's just me though.

None of those guys have any heart. Maybe Mike Williams, but Rogers and Roy Williams will always be great on paper, but lack something on the field.

I have been watching Roy Williams since his days as a Texas High School Star. The only knock on him is he is injury prone. He is all heart. He is young and doesnt understand that there is always something to play for when up team has no shot to make the playoffs.

Parcells put of with Antonio Bryant for a year and a Quarter, im sure he could find room in his heart for a talent like Roy Williams, and again, im not going to bat for him because he is from the Lone Star State :banghead: .

For real...I didnt know that (except about the Tampa part).

Much thanks for that post.

As I stated, I would not be surprised, this is the NFL, there is no loyalty, it's all about business.

These articles are pot-stirrers, nothing more. If there was some openly apparent disagreement that has happened between JJ and BP, I could understand throwing wood on the fire. In this case, there hasn't been anything remotely relevant to insinuate such nonsense. The only reason I could see for emoting such irrelevant blather at this point is what I call anti-Cowboys mediots' desire to get BP out of big D because their prognostications on BP and JJ having a lasting amicable relationship as impossible, has been shown for what it was worth: garbage down the sewage drain.

BP hasn't addressed his future, because he doesn't know. Why would a man nearing retirement who takes each season a year at a time, and has a team in the midst of a possible playoff run, speculate on a future extension? Also, why wouldn't JJ get testy about people asking him about extensions for his coach when it is irrelevant at this point?

If Parcells leaves give me JIMMY!!!!

A) When BP leaves it will be for retirement.
B) Hiring Jimmy back would be the equivalent of hiring Switzer. More a move to get a "name" than anything else. Jimmy has been out of the game for a long time. You just don't see that from many guys who have the fire.
