We had several small outages not long after we moved into our house a few years ago. Our neighbor told us they had never, in 20 years, had as many outages as since we had moved in.

We decided to get an automatic switch-over generator that powers a good bit of the house since we're also on well water, so no power also equals no water. No good on many levels.

We had the process started, but not finished in time for Irene last year. So we were without power for about 3 days, but finally got it all installed not long after.

As expected, we have barely had to use it at all. :laugh2:

But it's there when you need it :muttley:

Not the one that I am talking about. This past year or two we missed most of the bad storms (here in my part of WV).

The one I am talking about happened a few years ago and it was widespread through much of the north east area.

There was the Snowmageddon thingy about 3 years ago...

My old Land Rover LR3 during one of those snow storms. I believe the snow was about 18" deep that morning.

After the massive amount of shoving.

I have a lot of family living on the Outer Banks, so they for sure are in for a ride.

As for the storm impacting games in the northeast? The storm will only be off of the North Carolina/South Carolina coast at 2 pm Sunday. It won't be up north until Tuesday.

Sounds like a nasty one though .

It was in 2003 I believe, never played so many card & board games in my life. To everyone in this storms path stay safe & be prepared.

My dad is a logistics higher up at FEMA. He said that it's not that serious.

Unlike most hurricanes that bring surface-area damage, this one is going to be mostly atmospheric, bringing lots of rain and possible snow depending on temperatures.

Shouldn't be too much flooding at all unless you like on the banks of a river or something.

There were many interlopers at the grocery store during my usual early morning trip. I was unamused.

Storm is still eight hours away from NYC and the storm surge has already pushed the water over the sea wall in Battery Park. (located at the very southern tip of Manhattan) It's ankle deep on the board walk already. It's going to get nasty down there.

I work basically across the street from Battery Park. I wonder when the next time I will be heading into the office will be. :omg:

I hope I am far enough West in West Virginia to not get all of the snow. Calling for over a foot in some areas.:(

I hate the cold.

It's ridiculously windy here and the storm won't be here for another 5 or 6 hours. This one might be the real deal.

Fairly high winds and pretty serious rain over the DC area now.

For you guys in NYC area - I heard several of the tunnels will be shut down at 2 PM due to flooding fears...including the Holland tunnel.

Fed Govt shut down so I'm at home getting paid for sitting at home :)

This storm threatens to interfere with my drinking at my local watering hole tonight :D
