He could start practicing Tues 11/27th at the earliest before the Thursday Night NO game
Man it sure seems like the team has been super quiet about Fred Beard. Anyone heard anything about his progress/rehab?
I'm not sure why so many expect him to never play again. Mark Schlereth got bad enough I think he had to be put on a respirator and he was back to playing at a high level in about two years, IIRC.
He will play again. I just don’t think it will be this year. He may be the come back story of next year. I don’t think they want to say anything because it’s really up to him and how he feels. He probly tells them he feels better every week, but he couldn’t play and won’t get back on the field till he can be his old self.I don't think many are "expecting" him not to play. I think the important point is that the team should operate like there is a good chance he might not play again and thus they can have a contingency plan in effect for the future.
Shoot maybe we have it with Looney playing as adequately as he has been.

Brace yourselves for the selection of Elgton Jenkins, 6-4, 310-lb. center from Mississippi State in the 2nd round.

I'm sure if Travis can no longer play, he will be part of this organization, whether that's a personnel or coaching position.
And my point is that you said smart organization. We don’t seem to make those type of moves. I think they do assume he is coming back and are going to resign Looney. Likely draft O-Linemen that can play both positions.Doesn't change the point.
The organization, if they were smart, would operate with an assumption that he might not play again and build their draft/FA periods accordingly. Even if Looney is the guy going forward, draft or bring in another C type, etc.
It would be the height of stupidity to just assume he'll be back, he'll be fine, etc. He might be. But the smart organization builds a contingency plan.

Means that Fred is not on twitter posting his every medical update. Jaylon fueled the debate with his clear eye view. The FO never said a word. Medical issues are touchy when it comes to privacy.
Sadly, I agree. He's not going to play this season and honestly, I would prepare for that he never plays again.

Yet the player thinks he'll be ready by week 14. But what does he know? He's only got firsthand knowledge of his recovery
