Fred Beard update?

It’s not like a typical injury with well known time lines
He’s said his goal was to return this year but realistically I just want him to return, and that’s not likely gonna be this year

He could start practicing Tues 11/27th at the earliest before the Thursday Night NO game

Is this when he is eligible, or is the team saying he may be healthy enough by then?

Man it sure seems like the team has been super quiet about Fred Beard. Anyone heard anything about his progress/rehab?

Keep in mind that in many cases information is only passed along when the media asks. The team normally wouldn't hold a press conference specifically to address something like this unless there were a significant change in the player's condition or diagnosis.

I don't think many are "expecting" him not to play. I think the important point is that the team should operate like there is a good chance he might not play again and thus they can have a contingency plan in effect for the future.

Shoot maybe we have it with Looney playing as adequately as he has been.

He will play again. I just don’t think it will be this year. He may be the come back story of next year. I don’t think they want to say anything because it’s really up to him and how he feels. He probly tells them he feels better every week, but he couldn’t play and won’t get back on the field till he can be his old self.

I saw the interview where he said he was shooting for week 14 . Pretty sure it was on dc.com somewhere.

EDIT - actually it was on the Monday night countdown show when we played the titans. Susie Kolber interview - she said he told her he was eyeing week 14

Brace yourselves for the selection of Elgton Jenkins, 6-4, 310-lb. center from Mississippi State in the 2nd round.

I'm sure if Travis can no longer play, he will be part of this organization, whether that's a personnel or coaching position.

Doesn't change the point.

The organization, if they were smart, would operate with an assumption that he might not play again and build their draft/FA periods accordingly. Even if Looney is the guy going forward, draft or bring in another C type, etc.

It would be the height of stupidity to just assume he'll be back, he'll be fine, etc. He might be. But the smart organization builds a contingency plan.

Kid is a stud.

But I think I might chuckle if we use another premium pick on an OL. LOL.

And my point is that you said smart organization. We don’t seem to make those type of moves. I think they do assume he is coming back and are going to resign Looney. Likely draft O-Linemen that can play both positions.

That's not a decision for now. That call doesn't have to be made until after the season, when free agency begins, and hopefully they will have a clearer picture of Fred's recovery by then.

If by chance he is cleared the earliest he can return would be week 13

Means that Fred is not on twitter posting his every medical update. Jaylon fueled the debate with his clear eye view. The FO never said a word. Medical issues are touchy when it comes to privacy.

I disagree it wasn't Jaylon that was posting on Twitter, it was his NERVE!!! Should have had his account revoked.

I heard him say that he's aiming to return in Week 14. That depends, of course, on how he's feeling, and what opportunity remains to reach the playoffs.

TFred is on the radio weekly... with The Fan.
He's not hiding out. He says basically he feels better every day.

He is doing some on field stuff but nothing near pads yet.
He can't practice until after Thanksgiving.

No indication he'll be back this year but zero indication he won't be 100% by the start of next season.

Yet the player thinks he'll be ready by week 14. But what does he know? He's only got firsthand knowledge of his recovery

True but I would think it will be his doctors who make the determination. I am glad has been able to work out at the star since October.
