Wanted to know what it would look like to again trade down in the first and take a center. Here we go. Used the PFN simulator.

First the trade

Traded 17 and 82 to the colts for 34, 44 and 75 (love this trade and its really what I want us to do)

The picks:

2(34) Cesar Ruiz- C, Michigan. Light years ahead of every other center in the draft. Plug and play starter. Let’s Looney be the backup and let’s the Connor’s duke it out at LG. More and more I’m coming around to being okay with him as our top pick if we trade down. Love the player

2 (44) Grant Delpit- S, LSU. The best safety in this class. Size speed ratio is off the charts. He’s the ball hawk we’ve been wanting for years. I’m not playing him in the box so I’m not as concerned about tackling as some. And I think some of that has to do with him playing through a high ankle last year.

2(51) Zack Baun- OLB Wisconsin. No idea where he plays but he was the best player on the board and we seem interested. Trust the new staff to get him after the QB.

3(75) Raekwon Davis- DL Alabama. Surprised he was on the board. Gives us another big boy in the middle with McCoy and Poe.

4(123) Amik Robertson CB La Tech. Day one starter in the nickle. Vastly underrated cause he is short. All he did was produce in college.

5(164) James Proche WR SMU. Can’t say I am thrilled with the pick but WR was wiped. Can play the slot and be a core ST guy.

5(179) Alex Taylor OT SC State. Measurables off the chart. Needs a redshirt year but could absolutely be your LT of the future. Might be early but not picking again for a bit I wanted to take him.

7(231) Cole McDonald QB Hawaii. Why not? And McCarthy loves to draft and develop young quarterbacks

there you have it. I’m biased but I think it’s a home run.

Who did the Colts trade up for? I like most of those players and like getting someone at all those positions. It will be fun to see how Robertson does in the NFL he seems like a good player.

Yep, I like it, I like it a lot but I'd take somebody else at 34, maybe a an AJ Terrell, or even a Terrell Lewis or one of the top receivers still left. I just think there's better value available at 34 but I really like the value we can get by doing this.

I would be so psyched to see the draft go like this! Unless one of the top guys falls for whatever reason, I would definitely be for trading back.

I like Lewis at 51. He has the talent but what do you think about his injuries?

Your top 3 selections could all be drafted in the 1st rd. A 5'8 CB who would almost have to play inside, in which he has zero experience in.

I agree 100%.

But the more I watch Ruiz, I like him. Kid is just nasty
I wouldnt hate the pick. This is an offensive league, and you need a strong line. I just think you make that pick if it comes to you, as there isnt a need to be reactionary over Frederick

I do like the addition of Ruiz...

Ages of current line:
G Connor Williams 22
T Tyron Smith 29
G Connor McGovern 22
G Zach Martin 29
C Joe Looney 29
T La'el Collins 26

Taking Ruiz would be bold but it would be a chance to get the top player at the center position in round two.

Going into this draft the Cowboys biggest need is CB. I am okay with Brown, Awuzie, and Lewis starting but after that they have nothing. They need to go CB in the first 2 picks, and if Henderson is there at 17, they make that pick.

I am not going to count on Aldon Smith and Randy Gregory at RDE. Their history of not player far outweighs their history of game performances. The Cowboys need to find a DE somewhere in this draft.

They also need a slot WR. Proche has great hands and might be that guy but I am not sure he has the speed I'd like to see at WR. I like Proche and would pick him late but I am not dripping with confidence over that pick.

I am warming up to Delpit. Not at 17 but if the pull this trade off and he is there at 44, then pull the trigger, absolutely.

I don't see them picking two offensive linemen. I don't like Ruiz at 34, Hennessy and Biadasz will be available later. Also, I am thinking they may be better off getting a LG and moving Connor Williams to swing tackle. If Netane Muti is available in the 4th, Maybe take a shot with him. He certainly has the power Williams lacks in the middle. But I'd have to know more about where he is injury-wise. Muti reminds me of Larry Allen the way he punches. He knocks guys backward with that punch. If he can improve his technique, which gets him into trouble with his hands, he could become a pretty impressive OG. But my main point is they can live with Looney and McGovern at C, but they do need help at LG, especially with Williams coming off an injury.

We need a outside corner,we already have a slot corner signed for 3 more year's in Brown.

I like his game, seems explosive , may be better in a straight 3-4 but I think could play with his hand in the dirt. The ACL is obviously a concern but he will be two years removed soon. Doctors call I guess
