They work as being refs part-time and get paid a 6 figure income. I would love to be in their shoes. In fact, I would so biased in favor of the Cowboys I would never flag them.

Is that being a bad ref? You bet. But there are bias refs too that have their favorite teams. They don't get penalized for making bad calls.

Sorry don't share the view of the refs playing favorites. I'm not talking about the money they make just trying to make the right calls.

Frederick will now go out and pancake some Browns for Zeke to have a few long TD runs.

Definitely saw more of Jerome Boger than I wanted. Should've gotten the cheerleaders from the Replacements to distract him and his crew.

It's a false premise to assign validity to a penalty call based on whether you've subjectively seen an egregious example of a penalty call not made.

Context matters, as do all the other variables such as the factors Frederick explained himself.

Also, I keep hearing a few folks insinuating the defender wasn't near the play or wouldn't have made it (which is another false premise: that it has to be judged that a defender would have made the play for it to be a legit penalty). That's simply wrong. The play went across his face. Even if it's surmised that he wouldn't have made the tackle, if not held he could have impacted the play, changing the angle Zeke hit the hole, getting a hand on him and slowing down, et cetera.

I don't either. I was being sarcastic. But they make a lot of money for working part time. Yet they don't seem to make the right calls and they ruin the game by making a bunch of ticky tack calls.

Refs should not just come in on Sundays and expect to get things right. They should also be watching film on the weekdays and practice their craft a little better throughout the year. It a shame that NFL refs aren't help to similar standards in other professional sports.

I have always maintained and still do that it is the fault of the competition committee because they constantly change the rules. I think doing that makes the job of the refs much harder and while they will make mistake all I can say is so do player and coaches. They are human. I will not debate making them full time but still I think things would run much smoother without the constant changing of the rules many of them being judgement calls

Public comment: "I apologize to Zeke for the holding penalty."

Private comment: "We're going to get you a 75 yard touchdown run against Cleveland."

Seven holding penalties in four seasons is pretty amazing! You have nothing to apologize for. Just don't do it again! lol

If an offensive lineman is doing his job...he absolutely will get called for some holding penalties. Just like a cornerback--if he's doing his job will absolutely get called for illegal contact on occasion.

The best players push the boundary of what is legal and what isn't. That's why commentators say, "You can call holding on every play...if you want."

Lineman are always using their hands and grabbing to some degree. They just try to do it in a fashion that is deemed acceptable.

Thus thats why I believe it would be better if refs in the NFL is a full time position. They can then put time into learning what the new changes are and how to interpret it. Refs are part-time. They have full time jobs during the weekdays and come in and ref a professional sport on Sunday - which doesn't make a whole lot of sense in the world of professional sports.

If we had refs training and watching film just like players do and actually go to these teams practice, I'm sure things would be more stream-lined and easier. Refs in the NFL don't even have a system for accountability. What system is in place to insure that refs aren't biased against one team over the other? What system is in place to insure that the refs aren't making money off these games? I doubt there is. Thus this leads me to state that the refs in the NFL should be entirely revamped - one which is standardized and brings accountability to the game.
