You just don't over pay centers.....Flame suit on:rolleyes:

When you have a QB like Romo? Yes, you do.

He's most susceptible to pressure up the middle. With Romo under center, having a strong center and guards is more important than having strong tackles. Romo can make those guys off the edge miss - up the middle, not so much.

Think to when Stepnoski left the Cowboys in 1995 - the Cowboys got 11 good games from Ray Donaldson before he broke his ankle, and then the center position was a disaster until Stepnoski resigned in 1999, and by then, Stepnoski wasn't nearly the same player that he was before.

The Cowboys are fortunate to have the best young LT in the league, as well as two All-Pro level players in Martin and Frederick, and a potential Pro Bowler in Collins.

He's worth every penny though I'm not one to hope players get paid large. I want the team to save as much as they can.

2 down, 2 to go. 3, if you count Chaz Green.

Can you show us the numbers?

Todd Archer posted the numbers on ESPND today.

Here is a breakdown of Frederick’s contract:

Signing bonus: $3.25 million

2016 base salary: $691,822 2016 cap figure: $2,185,918

2017 base salary: $14.221 million 2017 cap figure: $14.871 million

2018 base salary: $10 million 2018 cap figure: $10.65 million

2019 base salary: $6 million 2019 cap figure: $6.65 million

2020 base salary: $7 million 2020 cap figure: $7.65 million

2021 base salary and cap figure: $6.8 million

2022 base salary and cap figure: $8.45 million

2023 base salary and cap figure: $10.15 million

-----

As Archer speculates, Dallas will restructure the contract in 2017 and again in 2018 when the large base salaries will already be guaranteed (the '18 salary is an injury guarantee right now that will become fully guaranteed early in the '18 league year).

This is how the Cowboys typically like to structure their big money contracts.

thanks...great stuff.....so the 18m for the SB, 2016 and 2017 is fully guaranteed and the 10m for 2018 will be guaranteed next March I presume.....after that is 5yr/38m with nothing guaranteed.....

Best thing is his cap hit goes from 8.8m down to a possible 3m next year

he came from an oline school so I gave dallas the benefit of the doubt. most people just looked to their saviors Kiper and Mayock and followed what they said regarding the (reach). pretty annoying at the time. even this year with Sterling Sheppard I heard the reach nonsense just because the (experts) had him round 3. pet peeve

Yea, just saying that he is the next piece of that line.

Actually, Collins might be. He got a three-year deal, so it will be up in 2018, although we can give him a high RFA offer that year. Wouldn't be surprised if we try to extend him after this year if he plays well. Then, we'll probably do Martin in 2018.

just spent the last 30 minutes reading and watching the reaction to Travis frederick being drafted.

It proved to me something that is true of the internet and the national sports media. The fans who hate Jerry/garrett hated the drafting of frederick and said he couldn't play, called him a fat pud who is a terrible athlete and said Jerry drafted him on his own. Secondly, there is no such thing as a draft expert. Never has been never will be. Its just noise.

Ed werder said he was told by multiple teams frederick was a 4th 5th or 6/7 th round draft pick. Funny stuff intended to feed the noise. Mayock was shocked because he had him as a third rounder. etc etc.

btw Did elam or floyd get extensions yet?

Funny stuff.

This guy in video is totally stupid !!!! :lmao2:
