FEATURED Free Agency 2026 thread

I didn’t know, which is why I asked. Not going to pretend to know which is worse in football. DRose never recovered in basketball. God bless him.
He had major structural damage and ACL issues. It was far from just a meniscus

Is it different for football?

I have PTSD with Rose and meniscus. I’ll never recover from that as a sports fan. Not making the championship game in the NFL for thirty years doesn’t bother me as much.
Sorry, I thought you were referring to Pete Rose.

He’ll bring more than that in trade.
Possibly to a contending team willing to take the risk. I don't see him going to a team trying to rebuild or even a mediocre one (unless for a 4th-5th round pick)

Philly just asked Goedert to put off his contract void date until Friday midnight. It puts off a $20 million cap hit. He wants to stay an Eagles player and they’d like to keep him. They signed some “ham and egger” tight ends today, just in case.

Have to wonder is this also some finagling to be able to unload Brown and acquire Crosby. Brown would be a massive dead cap hit, but free up some 2026 compensation money. Roseman is a creative guy. He’s also a weasel.

If we got Greenard for the pick we got for Osa, I'd be all for that.
The shoulder injury is probably the hold up here. After the Crosby saga I am sure teams are going to be all over Greenard's medicals. A 4th might even get it done.

One of 5-6. We dont know what the Cowboys' doctor said or feels specifically.
And what exactly did that doctor say?

This was nothing more than Baltimore seeing a soft market for Hendrickson and an opportunity to keep two 1st round picks.
Don't know what he said but you don't think he sent word to the Cowboys about what he saw so they can make up their mind about what to do with Crosby yay or nay?

I think they wanted Crosby but then had buyer's remorse over those would-be traded away first round picks and saw an out with Hendrickson.

I think this is going to lead to the NFLPA making some FA demands from NFL teams before next offseason.

I know people keep pointing that out but to be fair, part of that had to do with having a so many defensive coordinators over the last several years.

The Cowboys desperately need to find a defensive system that can survive a coach leaving (not fired, but leaving for a head coach hire).

It's fine to reset your offensive or defensive schemes every few years with a new coach and system, but year over year, teams should strive to implement a system that can last more than one season or a single coach.

The Eagles have been switching offensive coordinators even more frequently than the Cowboys have been defensive coordinators, but it didn't stop them from winning the SB, so I don't think your reasoning floats on this one.

What's really going on is the usual - we have the worst front office in professional team sports history.

Jerry’s never really had a defensive philosophy to maintain any sort of consistency. We’re an offensive “ticket sales” team through and through.
