Yeah, bc you can't compare two players playing two different positions...

I mean, Aaron Rodgers DEFINITELY isn't a better player than Brandon Carr

Cause you know, carr is a better cb

You can go away now

It does bring up the question of relative value to a team and system of one position over another. There have certainly been some teams whose QB was not their highest paid player, but it's likely that teams will at times overpay for a need, spurred on by a bidding war.

When Jerry signed Carr, he was determined to sign the best available CB FA available at that time. Unfortunately, he'll probably do it again, and huge contracts are seldom completely worthwhile.

Let's hope we continue to get good ROI, and JJ listens more to JG.

Running backs have a short shelf life, so what you pay today is more likely to come back and haunt you than what you pay other positions. It's very likely that Parnell will play out his contract if he is what Jacksonville thinks he is. It's very iffy that Murray would play out the same contract at the same level he is playing now.

Yes however what is more likely to happen, Murray or Peterson earning the money you paid them or Parnell or Graham earning what you paid them? You know with Murray or Peterson you have players that are 100% without a doubt capable to leading the league in rushing. With Parnell or Graham you can't say this because neither player has even been able to be a reliable starter in this league.....2 first team all pro's who were NFL Offensive player of the year and MVP candidates vs 2 guys who haven't even sniffed a pro bowl and neither have even been able to win starting jobs.

It makes absolutely no sense.

Teams have to think long term and running back is not a long-term position. Obviously, Murray and Peterson are the better players, but they are also more likely to fall of the cliff, possibly even in the first year of a deal. That forces the team to have to eat that contract.

Parnell and Graham aren't great and might never be, but both have a relatively decent chance of playing out enough of their contracts to make it worthwhile to invest in them. Without a salary cap, players like Peterson and Murray get paid astronomically more than players like Parnell and Graham. With the salary cap, longevity is more important than superiority. Running back is one of the main positions that is suffering from this because of the short shelf life of the position.
