I think fans get entirely too anchored on names that were league stalwarts 10 years ago. Suh is not the player he was, and wouldn't someone else have already been kicking these tires if he was?

Look at Shaq Leonard - everyone on this board was tearing their own eyes out when he went to the Eagles and from everything I've seen, he's been terrible and did absolutely zero to help out their defensive issues.

We are stuck with what we have and need to scheme something to address our run D.

Yep!
We like our guys!
Including the ones with the cleats marks on their backs!
Lol
you know that played out old tired narrative doesn't work when you're talking about 36 year old out of work that haven't had full time jobs in years or guys who are considered washed injured and only a shell of themselves you know all those moves that Eagles made that haven't worked yeah we should have took up roster spots for those dudes for what to make you happy to make some of these ridiculous narratives fulfilled our guys are better than those guys that are out on the street for 14 weeks they just are it may not look right to you but they're the ones who went through training camp all the practices and they've been fighting in every game and they deserve to stay on the roster not get switched out in week 15 for some dude who may not be able to give you much

you feel holes because of injury or if there's somebody out there you believe is better than what you have on your roster but you don't do it just to do it when y'all get it through your thick head and think it's cute to run around and say hey we like our guys well our guys have got us to three straight double digit win seasons that are gonna end in the playoffs yeah that's a terrible roster we should just pick up every 30 plus year old dude that's out on the street being cut from their team just to do it to make you happy:facepalm::espn:

The problem isn't whether Suh is what he was or not. The problem is the FO's inability to bring in any talent to fill very OBVIOUS holes

Suh doesn't have to be the Suh of the past for us to get a win. He has to be better than what we're trotting out there now.

The Cowboys FO has to be one of the easiest jobs during the season, because you literally have to do nothing and the fanbase is satisfied.

Explain to me why he hasn't had a full time position in three years and why in week 14 he's still out there and why he walked away from Miami without a contract...hmmm

I can tell you why because he's not better than most of the guys we have on our roster maybe he's better than Carl Davis, maybe, I mean is that the practice squad guys name but we're talking about three games left in the season why is another team not picked him up!!!!!

literally you think you're GM you think you can mock an actual professional football front office and structured team that has now going to the playoffs three straight years with double digit wins and somehow you think you know better they did try to fill holes, the guys name is mazi Smith and you don't like him but they also brought in Hankins, he happens to be injured... this happens to teams but our defensive line isn't the bigger problem, we've had injuries we've had illnesses, you playing on the road.... there's in weather, there's a lot of issues with why last week's game looked like it did and it wasn't because of the nose tackle or because of one defensive lineman.

it literally was a whole team missing tackles, it was the coaches inability to adjust to 49 run plays called, and you're still in nickel and dime most of the game what good is it having even a guy like the best nose tackle in the league if they're going to use them on 50% of the snaps and stay in nickel and dime. this is a coaching issue along with some of the other things we've already discussed but I could tell you right now you're not a GM your opinion is just that you keep blaming the front office and I'm blaming Dan Quinn for most of our losses this year because he runs one type of defense and and seems unwilling to want to adjust and he's counting on his players to make every tackle and to run his scheme perfectly instead of adjusting to what the other team is doing.

and that reminds me like he's the Jason Garrett of our defense... So blame the front office all you want doesn't make you right. you could keep screaming and yelling and get on board with some very small group who thinks we can't put a good team on the field and yet we did how many holes do you think he could fill?? I mean they went out and got a better #2 wide receiver they went out and got a better number two or it was supposed to be the number three corner and they're working out pretty well they picked the nose tackle in the first round which by the way the Eagles did it the year before Jordan Davis 13th overall we picked this guy 27th overall and they're both they both look about the same in their rookie years. it takes time to develop a guy and they got him possibly we'll see you in three years don't act like they ain't filled the holes... You can only fill so many holes but throughout the season you have a few games where your team lays an egg that doesn't mean we're a bad team at all!
I mean dude probably going to have 3-12 win seasons in a row...

So let's wait till the season's over before we discuss all the failures and then the needs for next year don't act like you didn't put a good team on the damn field everyone picked the Eagles this year as they're going to keep moving up and moving onward and moving forward and going to be dominating this division and guess who's in first place right now they can't seem to fill all their holes either it is not possible with a roster limit and a salary cap to have great players at every position and then great players for depth sometimes you just got to roll with what you got and hope it works out...

If we have a defensive line nascar package with all pass rushers, is it possible to get a guy like Suh and have a run stop package LOL. Suh, Hankins, Mazi, prob put Tank before Gallimore even though he’s smaller. We have enough good CBs and fast LBs that can keep up with anyone who tries to audible out of it. Just thinking some desperate measures for how to fix the situation.

Does it matter where they draft one, or by some miracle sign a FA. Fans on here will still complain about it and the player.
And is it the player after all, or does scheme now come into question. Especially with he lack of true LB's to make the tackles if the DL does not do it's job. At least to limit the runs to lesser yards.
If it was me, my # 1 goal this off-season would be adding bulk to DT and adding bulk to LB.

I'm afraid they will act like the healthy return of Overshown will be enough. And while I really like Overshown, at best he is 225 lbs.

You can't keep making exceptions to your defense because after a while you have a team full of exceptions. Everyone is raving over Markquese Bell and while he is excellent in coverage and backside pursuit in a LB role, he is nonexistent in A to C gap run defense. That's a lot to ask of a 214 lb. player. Kearse, who is a big Safety, plays more of a LB role in DQ's defense. He is 215 lbs. So now, you have two guys in your front seven, who are under 220 lbs., and then people wonder why they can't stop the run. Mazi Smith, getting off the ball late and standing straight up, isn't helping there either.

We desperately need a Fred Warner or Tremaine Edmunds type (easier said than done) that are athletic enough to do the things required in today's passing game, but big enough to not get washed by Guards at the second level. I would gladly settle for a Nick Bolton type.

The Bills killed the Cowboys with edge runs, mostly against the pass rushing LB that we're pretending is a DE. Micah is a one-trick pony. He ain't an edge setter.

Suh wouldn't help that.
I suspect that Suh wouldn't help anything. How many 36 year old dlinemen help anybody do anything?

Always despised him even before his attack on Gurode. Want no part of him in any way shape or form
Besides which I really doubt he is worth what he wants to be paid
I think some team would have signed him if he did not want so much money
Look at how many other has beens keep getting chances

Wasn't it Albert Haynesworth that stepped on Gurode's forehead?

This FO hasn't gotten out of the second round in nearly 30 years.

Remember when they said this was supposed to be a run first team and many pointed out weaknesses in the O-line and how a taking a mini-rb wasn't going to be conducive to that? And it played out just like that with our rbs not looking very effective for many games and most of the game being on Dak's arm, which isn't going to work against physical teams like the 49ers.

If the goal was just to have a nice regular season record, sure, give the FO their props. They've built a regular season hog that can destroy weak and mediocre teams to put up a nice record for multiple seasons in a row. However, when it comes to being a superbowl contender, this inactivity isn't going to work.

At the minimum, you do your due diligence and bring Suh in

That wasn't Suh that attacked Gurode.
