Hey, anyone know abything about our young players? For instance, what happened to OT McQuistan? Is he still with the team? Montavious Stanley? EJ Whitley? Sam Hurd appears to be a player for us, possibly more at WR next year? Am I missing anyone?

Brad sham and babe laufenberg both said this week they expect corey proctor to take one of the guard spots and I guess brad sham reffered to him as a mauler.

If Proctor can ARRIVE at TC this year and win the guard slot that would really help out big time. The only real weak spot was Rivera this season. Columbo and Kosier should improve, Gurode was very solid, and by the end of the season Flo was as good as he ever had been.

I think getting into a bidding war for Thomas would be a mistake. I'd rather take a shot at Lance Briggs...a quality LB that won't hurt the bank.

NE won't let Samuel go. Then again, we never thought they'd let Vinetieri go, either.

I know I'm going to be in the minority on this one, but I don't think our O-line is as bad as it seems. It does need some tweaking and probably a new face at RG. Flo was kind of a disappointment, too. I hope he just had an off year. I would love to see us get Blalock, the massive O-lineman from UT.

Some mocks have us taking Reggie Nelson with our first pick. I dont' think we take a safety two years in a row unless he's an impact player. Watkins was supposed to be a first-round talent, but didn't he have off-the-field issues?

This one is way out there, but what about drafting Michael Bush, RB, Louisville, with the first pick? Huge back that would've gone higher this year if he didn't have the injury early in the season. JuJo, IMHO, has not gotten it done. He'd too timid around the line and doesn't make the quick decisions you'd like to see him make. He also misses blocks when the opposing D blitzes. Just a thought.

i like the idea of samuel. This team needs a ball hawk with a winning attitude.

parcells may not get involved in taking a BB player though...

Howbout We stay away from free agency all together.

I have faith in baltimore that if we took thomas from them, in a year or two they would find a guy that fits what they do and make him a great player.

So howabout we put our faith in the organization to find the guy who will replace thomas in this years draft...and we draft him.....Makes more sense to me.

I really think at this point free agency is like chasing your tail. I like samuel, but dont think he really is a candidate to come here and charlie casserly said he wont be franchised.

Asanti Samuel, he's young and a ball hawk, move Anthony Henry to FS (another ball hawk).
Not happening. We already have a TON of cash in our secondary. No way we are dumping several more million. Henry is a good CB, and I expect Watkins to come around. No need to dump another 5-7 million a year in a CB.

Adalius Thomas, he's a high motor guy with great ability, great fit opposite of Demarcus Ware!
THis is the guy I want. Even over Freeney.

A guard to replace Rivera, although that could come in the draft...

We have a replacement for Rivera. His name is Flozell Adams. Flozell's issue is with speed rushers off the end. Move him to guard and that weakness disappears. Just draft Joe Thomas in the first round. Problem is, you have to get high enough in the draft to get him!!! I think Thomas will be a franchise type tackle. We have McQuistan to replace Koisar in the future. He has the athletic ability to play tackle so he should dominate at guard with more time.

If Justin Blalock is available in the April draft when Dallas selects, I'm going to throw up if Dallas doesn't take him... This guy should be the real deal... He's played RT and RG... BP likes versatility so this guy screams it... Plus he's got the prototype size... Now should be the time to select an offensive lineman with the first pick. I don't give a rats bum if we haven't done it in years and years... Get this one right Jerry and Bill. Lastly, it would help if he's got some Italian in his family tree.

Samuel- I think he gets franchised
Thomas- we will be competing with alot of other franchises namely the Ravens, Bengals, 49ers to name a few if we decide to get in on that. I dont see it.

I think it's time we try to compete instead of trying to get bargain basement diamonds in the ruff. We might just win the contest and then an actual playoff game.

if you all signed samuels(just speculation, which sounds like wont happen since you all have tons invested in the secondary already?), you would probably have the best duo at CB in the league. Two players that have no problems in man v man coverage. Teams already dont through at Newman very often, and teams might think twice at throwing at samuels after a 10 int effort. That would be a deadly combo imo

Well, with Zimmer gone we might not play so much zone anymore (which is what killed us) Of course I beleive Zimmer hinted that Parcells was part of the reason they kept playing a base defense with a lot of zone. So... Parcells could be half the problem. My guess is he played zone to protect Williams.

A couple of inexpensive FA pickups:

1. CB Roderick Hood - I think he could be starting material.
2. Backup (if he'd accept being a backup) ILB Randall Godfrey - I was sad when he left. He still has some nice speed.

Watkins is a much better player than Henry.

He also has something that Henry does not....

speed.

So, I guess that means we should leave Anthony at CB, where speed really doesn't come into play all that much?

Why is everyone so keen on replacing Watkins.....he came on nicely as the season progressed.

Biggest needs remain:

OLB--someone opposite Ware to bring pressure.
OL--You can NEVER have enough ofensive lineman....to me it's the most important unit in all of football.
WR--Someone young to replace Owens/Glenn who are not getting any younger.
NT---Fergie has a couple of more year left max and there is no one behind him.

I would say strong safety, because I don't think the one we have now is much good. However I want to see what a new coordinator can do with him before tying the hitch to him.
