When you said "get better ACROSS THE BOARD" in all caps.

Because words have meaning you didn't have to wait long.

Over time. Not in one year. The post before it I only suggested getting a new safety for Church and then finding a backup CB in FA and drafting a CB.

In fact, you responded to one of my posts earlier in this thread where I agreed you can't change all 4 starters.

Over time you change everything across the board. And when you use all caps you're denoting urgency.

In any case I'm glad you agree with me.

I'm bringing back Mo, Carr, Wilcox if I'm in charge. And I'm grabbing a defensive back somewhere in the first two rounds assuming the value lines up. You simply can't lose 4 starters in one position group in a single offseason. None of these guys would break the bank and all can provide a bridge to the next generation.

I don't know. Why put the band back together if they can't play a tune.

The club can resign Claiborne. He has plenty of talent. He must be signed on the absolute cheap. He will never be a solid starter. Never. He is a great rotational...relief man...one of the best. Sign him....sign him cheap.

People may not like it...but I stick the transition tag on him. I'm not letting him get away for nothing. IMO he's a late bloomer...w/ his best football ahead of him. With that 7 wonderlic score....he may have finally caught on. Worth a one year gamble.

The tag would be 14.297 million dollars.

Claiborne signed a 1-year, 3M contract last season.

The idea of a bad contract in the NFL is going to drastically change once free agency starts March 9.

"The bottom line is, a lot of guys are gonna get overpaid this year," former NFL executive and ESPN analyst Bill Polian said during an interview on Sirius XM NFL.

With over $1 billion in available salary-cap space, nearly every franchise has the flexibility to be aggressive in pursuing talented individuals to improve rosters.

The projected market, positional value, previous production and personal histories helped determine which players are the most likely to be overpaid this offseason.

I agree that the numbers are going to blow up.

We go back and forth around here about salary numbers and what a player is worth, but the numbers are going to be bigger than what most of us like to think about.

I would like to sign a guy like Nick Perry at DE that I consider above average but not quite elite. His worth in my mind is something like 8M per; however, in reality I wouldn't be surprised if he gets way more than that.

Pay Claiborne, he is a legitimate talent. Don't let injury history be the determining factor, it is history. His potential is real. I'm not ready to give up on a former top ten overall pick.

Exactly....the risk reward is too high with Mo......he is a top 10 CB when healthy and he owes us some loyalty

Give him a 3m base and 200k per game deal...6m if healthy

I would give Mo a 3m base guaranteed and then 200k a game roster bonus...that would be 6.2m if healthy

it would have a team option for the same thing in 2018 if he hits a certain number of games

I could live with that. We all know he isn't going to be healthy for an entire season, so base some of his pay on that.

He played pretty well when healthy this year, and was actually better than he's given credit for the previous season.

Claiborne can't stay healthy.

Stop throwing money at age, injury, and character risks.
while that's a cool theory, it's a bit like finding pots of gold at the end of rainbows.
you have to fill out the team with adequate NFL talent.
very hard to accumulate that and have it be young, injury-free and high character.

the market will determine what happens with Mo but he's plenty good enough to come back.

will take a far larger deal but it could be worked in that vein.

3 year up to 31m deal.
say 4m Signing Bonus
2m base year 1
year 2 at 10m gtd if he plays 12 games in 2017.
year 3 at 9m w player option.

1m for Pro Bowl, 1m for All Pro each of next three seasons.
