Front office looking smart for not cutting Carr

I thought Carr was a goner. Know we need him to step up

20/20 hindsight is always amazing, but the bottom line with Carr is that with the roster moves and salary cap, they didn't need to move him even at his current cap number. In fact, his cap number next year will not be a hindrance to the team, either.

I was telling people to follow the money...and the fact that he was the best corner on the roster the second half of last season...you know after he properly grieved the death of his mother.

We're in a pretty good spot at CB right now with Carr, Jones, Patmon, Claiborne, and White. Scandrick will be missed, but we're not all of a sudden going to give up tons of yards through the air because one guy is gone. This one will hurt a lot less than Sean Lee being lost last year when our front seven was already weak.

Lol are they smart after everyone here wanted him gone? Or do we have psychics in the FO that saw this coming.

Everyone here does not matter. Nobody here is a front office professional except maybe that mysterious AdamJT13...that guy is a damn wizard!

Unlike fans, the team can't afford to make emotional decisions.

The FO isn't as knee-jerked as fans. There was NO WAY the FO was going to cut Carr. Despite what fans think, you don't cut starting cornerbacks who contribute heavily to your team.

It was silly to even suggest he should be cut. But fans who think they're GMs are ready to get rid of every player who has a slump or whom they think does a bad job here and there.

But that's the difference between a fan and a real GM/coach/scout.

Carr lost his mother last year. Nothing more needs to be said. I expect him to have a solid year.

On the other hand, Scandirck's big payday and chaotic personal life raised red flags before the injury.

I'll give the front office credit for many things, but CB isn't one. They've dished out two firsts and a second, a small fortune for Carr and redone Scando in recent years and I don't think anyone would consider the unit quality, with one injury they will be fortunate if they are considered league average.

Very rarely does a team have too many good players at a position like CB and OL. These things have a way of working out. Stephen and Jerry have been around long enough to know this, which made them hesitant to do anything hastily with Carr.

That is a pretty pathetic excuse.

He has been terrible since he got here.

If it all depends on a quality pass rush then anyone can play CB.

Use the money to improve the pass rush and don't waste it on Carr.

Carr did not prevent them from keeping Murray. And McFadden wasn't brought in as a Murray replacement. They wanted to go with a running back by committee and they valued their offensive line more than they did Murray.

This apparently goes in one ear and out the other FAR to often, as demonstrated by numerous posters in countless threads.

Was it last year or the year before where Carr lost his mother to cancer? Granted, all players i'm sure go through some things but that's a tough. Not using that as a excuse for Carr but I don't think its any coincidence how bad he looked at the beginning of the year and how solid he looked towards the end.

He played well during the playoffs. I think he was our best defensive back. I think when Marinelli wanted a more press coverage type of defensive Carr started to play better. Unfortunately our pass rush was non existent and thus it seems that our corners are terrible.
