The Jaguars are not expected to make an effort to retain RB LaBrandon Toefield, DE Marcellus Wiley, TE Kyle Brady, FS Deon Grant, WR Cortez Hankton, and LB Tony Gilbert before the free agency period begins.

Hankton and Gilbert are special teamers. Wiley, 32, is close to done. Toefield could draw interest from a team looking for cheap help at running back, like Detroit. Grant is a cover safety whom Dallas might like.

I wonder why they would say this? It is like the Leonard Davis rumors.
Media meme: "Dallas safeties are horrible."

That automatically associates any possible free agent FS with Dallas.

It really is amazing how lazy journalists are. You'd think it would be a pretty competitive field, but it doesn't look that way.

I still think Watkins will be much better after camps and pre-season.

BUT, if we do go in the direction of another FS I'd much rather something like this rather then wasting a 1st round pick on Landry or Nelson (even if they are there at 22).

Brandon Merriweather would be the guy from Univ. of Miami I'd strongly consider if I were the Cowboys...

Was he one of the guys running around stopping on people in that big brawl earlier this year against FIU? Pretty sure he was.

I will be very unhappy if we go FS at 22. Sign somebody to come in and compete with Watkins for the job. Killer can't be counted on either. By bringing in a vet I don't mean like we did last year. That was a joke. WP will fix the pass rush and that will solve much of the FS problem IMHO. We have bigger needs at 22 than FS.

On the other hand is the rumor of Henry getting moved to FS. If that is true, then I would be happy if we went CB at 22. That would be a cheaper option than signing someone like Clements. Save that money for the O-line.

Ironic thing, that game was the annual "Join-a-Team, Not-a-Gang" day program and they brought 700 trouble Miami Dade County youth to watch.

Mr. Watkins takes exception to that.
