FS1:The Cowboys are different, but are we going to get the same results?

I don't believe in Dak, but Moore's play-calling was detrimental to the team. The right play-calling could be enough to help the team and play to Dak's strengths if he can just get out of his own head and stop being his own worst enemy.

Moore absolutely didn't call things based on Dak's strengths or to help the defense at all. He ignored the important stat of TOP in big games.

Again, every team's worse enemy is a rash of early injuries to key players for an extensive period of time, particularly if there are multiple strikes at a vulnerable squad.

I am truly concerned about the RB position and the durability of Pollard when given the majority of carries. I don't see anybody behind him with the capability of providing the Cowboys with a productive running attack.

And if the Cowboys are forced into a one dimensional passing attack........

The Cowboys are 27-1 when Dak throws 28 or less passes in a game. When forced into passing more than 28 times Dak and the Cowboys are 29-30. Before you comment you need to know that this is one of the better records for QB's when they throw more than 28 times a game.

Anyway, it's obvious that, in order for Dak to throw less, the running game must be successful. Pollard must be successful.

It's one thing for a season to be destroyed by an injury to your starting quarterback. However, the effect is equal should the Cowboys lose Pollard.

I was absolutely mystified when the Cowboys passed on taking a RB in the 2nd round and I would have been pleased if they had still taken Vaughn in the 6th. I believe the needs at RB is that dire.

To summarize, one of the key components in the results of a season is, unfortunately, their degree of luck.

However, barring negative events, the Cowboys have a real shot.

Totally valid points but I feel like if our OL plays the way it’s capable of the young backs should do fine. If pollard were to get hurt a trade or FA could be an option as well. They don’t want to throw money at a backup RB right away and I agree with that thinking.
I would have liked a RB second round as well, so we’ll see how it works out.

The Cowboys don't need a "backup" RB, they need a complementary back that will not only relieve Pollard but also specialize in some area of need such as short yardage on 3rd down or goal to goal. Pollard isn't going to carry the ball 400+ times.

You have to figure that the Cowboys will run an average of 60 plays a game. If they pass 30 times then they must run 30 times. That works out to over 500 carries in a 17 game season. They need more than just a warm body.

It's been proven that even if the Cowboys have an elite O-line the RB has to possess some degree of NFL talent, he can't just be some warm body.

It wasn't that long ago that Jerry told us we didn't need Murray, who set a new single season Cowboys rushing record. He replaced him with Joseph Randle and it destroyed the season within two games. That team had three Pro Bowlers on it the O-line.

I get why fans are ripping on KM. I often questioned his play calling at certain points of games. The one in particular was the 2nd & 2 call in the divisional round. A pass play? But then again, did Dak change the play?

Lucky Kellen as he will work beyond the constraints that he had so many years with a limp QB.
He will work wonders once again esp with Herbert that gives you a massive playbook to work with.

Well of course Pappy, but reality is reality, and we are surrounding Dak with every single opportunity to succeed, dialing down to a short/intermediate scheme, with hands coming out of the backfield as well as deep perimeter speed.
Daks biggest hurdle this season will be understanding the timing of a well executed screen, don't know if he has the patience.

I agree.

If I was into fantasy football I would certainly consider drafting Herbert. He could have a great season.

After 7 years I think we've seen a big pool of his work to judge him and the word LEMON comes to mind.
No, I don't believe in Santa and Dak ain't changing as when it counts the most he will wet the bed again and again.
Yes, I feel for the other players who give 110% out there (esp our defense) all simply wasted away due to inept leadership and quality at QB.
No amount of talent can carry this Pig to the Superbowl.......
