Furboy Second to last Monday no-trade mock for 2021

I think we need a better lb prospect, we dont have good lbs, Iowa kid or Barrow or Cox, but liked Sewell pick , he and Pitt at 10 will be great.
Pitt vs Sewell, Sewell for me

Fair enough. The funny thing is, the CBs I see projected for round 2 on PFN aren't as fluid or as good as the ones projected for round 3 or 4 like Adebo and Thomas.
Stokes, Melifonwu, Joseph are some corners that would be good values in that range.

Same here. If it's Pitts vs Sewell, give me Sewell. Trenches or defence in round 1 is usually a good and safe option, especially with someone like Sewell.

You love the guy lol

Essentially for me, when in doubt, go trenches. Trench players in round 1 are usually the safe pick. Sewell is one of the 2 best players in the draft. So, if Sewell is there at 10, I'm always taking him. We've never gone wrong, as far as I recall, when we've gone oline in round 1. Also, for dline, we've only gone wrong, as far as I remember, with Taco. All our other first round trench picks have been successful. Win the trench warfare, and the rest falls into place. We've seen what happens when you build a great oline. Sewell would be for the purpose of maintaining and repairing our oline that's in need of maintenance. He'd allow Dak to have a lot of time to find our bounty of WRs, and Zeke to have plenty of room to run. Then build the defencive trenches, and the secondary will take care of itself. Great trench warfare on the dline means that the opposing running game will be suffocated forcing more passing. The pressure on the QB would be so intense that errant passes will be forced allowing the DBs to attack the ball better. So, that's why I say, when in doubt, draft trenches.

I am hoping our already great o line gets healthy

And Goodwin the far better special teams guy. Hence why they reupped with him on a two year deal.

I expect Goodwin to be kept. I also think Canady will be, but I don't mind if he's bumped off through competition.

Right now, I'd go with 6 corners (Rookie, Diggs, Brown, Lewis, Goodwin and Canady) and 4 safeties (Kazee, Wilson, Kearse and rookie) to make up our 10 DBs. That could change if Reggie Robinson shows progress, but I can't say based on last season that Robinson can even play in this league. Canady has shown that he can. It's also possible that we draft more than two DBs and increase the competition for those 10 spots. Of course, if there's no discernible difference, we're going to keep the better special-teammers, which are Goodwin, Canady and Kearse.

I don't know. If we didn't spend any picks in the first round on a corner, I'd rather us throw as many of them against the wall as possible and see who sticks.

However, I prefer that we draft a corner in the first or second round because I do not prefer that either Lewis or Brown start.
We tried that before in a draft I believe we took 3, cant remember their names because they all washed out for various reasons,, I get the concept of mass targeting, but it doesn't have a good track record.

I don’t expect to see Canady. But feel free to bring it up again in week one.

No reaches please, Jerry

Agreed, and that's where trenches are usually best. It's hard to reach for oline. See Zach Martin and Frederick. Even in potential "reaches" for oline, they're as safe of a pick as you can make. Given the strides that the WFT and NYG have made at dline, maintaining our oline is as much a priority as defence imo.
