I'm thinking as of right now, AOA at FS and Chuch at SS is a real possibility in the future.

Granted its WAY early, but lets look at what we have. AOA has show intelligence and he is big and fast. Thats is 3 pluses. This guy can probably play FS in the NFL in time.

Chuch not only showed he has something in offseason workouts. He showed it in preseason. Not only did he show something in preseason, he has now shown something in the regular season not only in special teams, but now at strong safety too!

I'm not pretending to know the future for the Cowboys safety, but I think there might be something to watch here.

What do you think? Could AOA be our future FS and Church be our future SS?

I would like to see that. What do you think of McCray?

I like McCray, but as a SS I think Church is better in the long run. I also think AOA is easily the FS of the future.

I've got a feeling we'll draft a safety relatively early next year, along with a linemen (or two) on the first day.

Keep on an eye on DeAndre McDaniel from Clemson. Never too early to start pimping.

I hope AOA can be the safety of the future. Consider this year essentially a redshirt year for him at safety. As for SS, still gotta see what Church can do but Sensabaugh is only 27 so he's got some years left in him

I just hope to see the day when the cowboys have a polamalu type safety.

The Cowboys haven't had a real good safety (except for Hamlin's first year with us) since Woodson retired. That's a long time to wait. Hopefully you will be right about both players. Hopefully Sean Lee makes it back soon & he sees some action on the field & starts to show he'll eventually become Brookings successor. We gotta get some rest for Brookings cause he won't last w/o it.

I beg to differ, I heard you can read the future by becoming proficient at reading player's jockstraps. The only thing vexing me is the controlled conditions. Used or freshly laundered. I think laundering them impedes the inability to read.

On a serious note, guys like Church and McCray were retained or reacquired because they have shown signs of possibly developing into playmakers.

I hear what your saying but did we forget about Roy williams in his first few years with the Cowboys? He was a beast, I know he had Woodson to back him up for a few years but still...

Roy Williams was eons better than Hamlin ever was, especially his first 3 or 4 seasons. Williams was more than just a "good" safety his first couple of years in the league, he was a dominant playmaker.

How soon some of you forget.

Then he lost it overnight. I think a combination of gaining weight, and subsequently slowing down, coupled with a lack of desire lead to decreased production big time. I think he's a shadow of what he was. Shame, he could have had a Hall of Fame career and lost it.

The horsecollar rule did help either

I was really hoping for Earl Thomas since about last September but I had to settle for Dez Bryant :

Nah.

A corner will be drafted before a safety.

The nice thing about AOA is that the game doesn't seem too big for him. He seems to be physically gifted enough to do a lot of things. PLus, I did returners that play out of a different than normal position, like Droughns did at FB with Denver years ago, like Leonhard does at safety. I think it makes things easier for the coaching staff.

We need guys who are better at covering TE's though. Did a nice job against Daniels, but have traditionally struggled and struggled in the first 2 games of the season.

This team hasn't been able to cover tightends since Woodson retired.

Us and every other team wish they had a Troy P.

Does anyone remember any other player who looked like a future Hall of Famer totally losing it that fast? Except for an injury, I can't seem to recall anyone in NFL history losing it in the prime of their career like Roy did. I remember having legitimate debates with family members about who was the better safety Roy or Troy P. That seems really silly right now.
