The offense is entirely different with Noodles at QB. He cannot throw the intermediate ins and outs that are Dakota's staple. He likes to throw the ball up for grabs. Not such a big deal with Dez and Witten but the the second string cannot handle it. Actually feel better about him.

The starting OL and DL were awful. The DTs were atrocious. Th DE were making the QB step up but could not get off blocks.

The secondary wool be maligned but the lack of speed with Lotuleiei, Wilber, and Wilson opened up the middle of the field. Wilson was just bad.

Gaithers and Smith won't clear waivers.

Brice Butler is going to get paid next year if he keeps this up.

Rush is the best QB prospect we have had since Tanney.

I will have my normal writeup this weekend after I get to watch the game again and with scrutiny.

What do you care about 3rd and 4th team scrubs? Most of those cats wont even be on the team.

This is the time when I get a feel for the roster and the direction the team is going to take going into the season. Perhaps you are not interested in how Woods or Carrell perform but I find it extremely interesting.

Once the roster set in the coaches are working more on game plans than they are on player development it becomes a lot less interesting to me.

The analysis from that point should be on opponents and matchups not on who the team is because I already have a good feeling for that after the preseason and a game or two.

How can you tell the direction of the team by watching scrubs run around? And its only the first action of the year. Cant judge much of anything on it.

Why can't you analyze a preseason game? Dallas generally doesn't scheme at all and wants to see guys simply beat the man they are lining up against. Several players did that. Butler, Rico, Andy Jones, Rod Smith. Not as many on defense. Neal had some good plays. Gilchrist showed up a couple times, as did Woods.

Cooper and Collins looked pretty good. Awuzie looked OK. Butler needs to be targeted a lot more this season. Cleary appears to have won the swing tackle spot by default. Rush looks promising, I doubt he'll get through the waiver wire to the PS if that's our goal. Not sure Luke will make the squad if because of it. Brian Brown, #18, looked pretty good in that catch in the 1st quarter. Would love to see if he can return punts and play the slot.

Awuzie nearly had the pick 6, too bad. He would be lighting the board on fire if he did.

I wish SD would have played some starters. When he can Garrett likes to get our #2's VS their #1's and our #3's VS their #2's. Dont think there was any opportunity for that yesterday.

Cleary won't be the swing tackle unless Green is the starting guard or injured, which is always a strong possibility. Our two reserves active for games will most likely be Green and Looney. Cleary stepped into the role when Green had to start and then when Green was injured.

That's why I said "by default". Green can't stay healthy. I didn't see how Bell played but he could be another option at swing tackle.

Whether we agree or disagree there is never anything wrong with generating football discussion. I thought that was the purpose of the board.
