They slid protection to help on Spencer and he was pretty quiet. I don't think he played a whole lot curious to see the snap counts. I thought Selvie was active and did his usual job of steering the edge.

I noticed Terrell McClain a lot. He built on last weeks performance and I like his effort. He has great burst off the line and was requiring a double team to contain. He buys into the bite scratch and claw philosophy that Garrett preaches. He helps on ST too. Hayden shows up late in plays due to hustle often and almost never when it is a poa thing.

Melton is not earning his team option. I think he needs to strengthen his legs which is not surprising given his ACL reconstruction. Crawford met another group of interior linemen that he could make swing and miss on his quickness. He was consistently disruptive to my eye.

Durant will struggle taking on blocks and showed some spotty tackling in the middle of the game but overall the pursuit and physicality was still on display. McClain scares the opposition. Watching Manning chuck the ball away just preventing a Rolando special, you can see him turn and shiver in response. The great LBers throughout history like Lambert, Singletary and the like had similar reputations amongst players. Watching him wade through scrums and put his pads into people is the essence of football. Wilber's tackling was a problem.

The Giants could attack a in the middle of the field, and on a series of ins outs and comebacks against our corners. the rush was not consistent and Manning can read NFL defenses. We did not give up anything that got behind our S or deep corners. The defense ramped up the physicality in the second half and outside of trapping Heath on the field with no huddle and exploiting him on the TD drive, the Giant's couldn't do much and coughed up the ball repeatedly icing the game.

Wilcox seemed to not know what the call was on that crucial third down that they called holding on him. I agree with Babe and Brad in that it was Church who primarily held but his bewilderment was not encouraging to say the least. Wilcox missed a couple of tackles to boot and he continues to not make any plays in the passing game. He hasn't done anything since the Titans game in space in the passing game. I get that the deep ball is not there which is a nod in his direction and I do not discount his third down tackles but he needs to make plays on the ball in the air or the club needs to put a priority on finding someone who can compete for the role that can. I would like to see Jakar Hamilton get a shot as the nickel S as well but I don't know how they would get him out there.

Spillman continues to suck at KO coverage and Patmon looked weak at the poa on the long return. Chris Jones continues to choke up bad punts. Bailey is proving to be the best kicker in Cowboys history.

Romo was money on his throws. About the worst I can say is he should have led Williams more inside on that deep throw up the seam. The pick was to be to Dez in single coverage and he fell down. I like the read and not the route. Romo also continues his part in the running team theme. There were a lot of kill calls and play changes that ended up being runs.

Murray hurt his ankle on the 21 yard run where he took a dive before contact. Outside of that he had a heck of a game. His hands continue to be money although we didn't need to use the flare pass often this game. Watching him setup a Giants defense desperately trying to flank the strongside and cutback to the open prairie was hilarious. It's too bad Randle had to get arrested. His leash was short. If the coaches don't trust Dunbar to block then they need to replace him. You won't even know if the RB by committee approach will work if you never try it at all.

Smith struggled and I have little doubt it has to do with his bum wheel. JPP quickness gave him fits. All the interior guys were inconsistent in maintaining blocks. Giants DL did a good job making tackles as Murray tried to clear the line. Parnell is a very powerful man. His punch has some serious pop to it and he likes to hit. Coach him up and keep the brain farts away. Rep rep rep rep rep rep rep rep. He needs to practice more than anyone on the team.

Witten got a lot of attention from Giants coverage and after Escobar's second TD so did he. The Cowboys will run behind any of their three TE anywhere in the formation. Escobar continues to not be a liability at the poa.

After the first TD of the second half the Giants decided to try and defend the middle of the field and run. Bryant found a lot of single coverage throughout the game but especially in the second half. He was able to shake free of initial tackles and got good RAC which has been hard to come by with the double coverage of previous weeks. Outside of Dez and TE there were not many balls to go around. Romo didn't have much issue finding open receivers.

Hit on a lot of the same things as I posted on another site....will just mention a few.

Terrell McClain may have been the best McClain on the field today, and there were three of them out there. He was very disruptive in the run game and got robbed of a forced fumble.

The Giants bracketed Witten several times....they were more afraid of him than the other guys....but the other guys all took advantage.

Right now, I have absolutely zero fear when we drop back to pass. I just think Romo is gonna put it to the right player every time.

My only negatives.....less pass rush pressure today than many of the prior games, Manning had a lot of time. We need to start using the PA pass more often on first down. We ran the ball every first down in the first half except the time JP sacked ROmo who was in the shotgun. In the second half, we threw on first down three times I think. TD to Escobar, 20+ yd gain on pass and then a 4 yd checkdown. All positive plays.....I think the Giants were open for much more of it.

Funny, I was just writing up my impressions and you covered most of them very well. I'll list a couple of other thoughts below, I totally agree on Crawford, McClain and Romo.

Others thoughts -

Overall, it’s a young team that is good and getting better. Still not a Super Bowl team but they are doing a lot of things well. They really cutting back on the dumb mistakes like blocked punts and easy turnovers, and on top of that are starting to create turnovers. Its amazing that the team is 6-1 with zero pass rush, if DeMarcus Lawrence is the guy they think he is and Spencer gets back to his previous form, this is an entirely different (and better) team. This team is capable of winning in the playoffs. This team with two legit pass rush threats at DE is capable of going deep into the playoffs.

Parnell played fairly well, which is good considering this was only his second NFL start. There is no doubt about his run blocking and in pass coverage, he has a bit of the Flozell Adams thing in that he is so big a pass rusher ends up in a different zip code trying to navigate around him. He is also a guy that will pound a DE to the point that player isn’t as effective late in the game – and Parnell is already a fresh set of legs facing defensive players with a half season’s worth of nicks and bruises.

There seems to be a general consensus that this isn't a Super Bowl team, but who is going to keep us from getting to the Super Bowl? The Eagles, Cardinals, Lions, and the Packers seem to be the teams in the way as it stands right now, with the Packers presenting the biggest challenge, IMO. I'm just not convinced a run at #6 this year isn't a real possibility.

I don't think we stand a chance against the Broncos at the moment. I'm looking forward to the Colts game later in the year. They started off kinda weak but look very good right now. I'm still curious how we'd do in a rematch against the Niners. The Cardinals and two Eagles match ups will be interesting as well. All in all, yes, we're looking like a very good team at the moment. But every season is different, so I think the games I mentioned (Colts, Eagles, Cardinals) will say a lot more about how good we are than when we beat the Saints and Seahawks. The Saints look awful and the Seahawks barely look like a playoff team.

When you have the best record in the league at 6-1, you are as much of a contender as anyone.

Nobody thought we stood a chance against the Saints at one point. Or the Seahawks.

We're one of the better teams in the league right now, and it's a short list. And we've got some DL reinforcements still coming, some young players on defense who can get better, and a lot of room to improve, overall. It's pretty exciting right now.

If you cant get to Peyton Manning, and it isnt easy because he is the center piece to their team and they do a great job even against strong pass rush, he will pick a team apart at will and he proves that every week. they have a ferocious pass rush and Denver is #1 in my book. Chargers are another team people are over looking for some reason, Rivers is playing at the highest level and that team is scary good. I want to see the Cowboys win the NFCE first, hopefully someone knocks off those 2 powerhouse teams before the championship stuff starts.

Last year we hung with the Broncos pretty well. We're a much better team this year. They are better as well, but I think we'd put up quite a fight.

that game was spectacular but definitely not the norm for Dallas. It was for Denver though.

While true, I think our identity of being able to run on anyone in the damn league would allow us to control the clock and put us in a good position against them.

This is the best team effort we have had in a long time. We have had a lot of stars go down, and it would be easy to make excuses, but they keep winning. I wrote a long drawn out prose about excuses last week, but it got buried in the mucky muck.

I think our pass rush is sufficient enough to force Manning to make quick throws and give our guys a chance. He knows how to move within his blocks but he is not an escape artist by any means. I don't know that the Broncos can stop our run game. That was the formula that Seattle has used to beat them. At the end of the day I don't think we have the speed and savvy to keep up with them all over the field on defense but if we get a productive pass rushing day we have a shot.

We also took the Broncos to the wire last year with what I think is an inferior team. Thing is that the Broncos have to deal with the Colts and San Diego to get there and we don't.

Did I miss something? He ended up averaging 46.3 with 41.0 net.

4th and 2 at DAL 28:)59) (Punt formation) C.Jones punts 43 yards to NYG 29, Center-L.Ladouceur, fair catch by O.Beckham.

Far from the efforts of Mat McBriar several years ago.

4th and 7 at DAL 35M.McBriar punts 65 yards to end zone, Center-L.Ladouceur, Touchback.

I think this was one of his better games, and I think he is one of the weak links on this team. Average players these days stand out on this team.

Good post, but screw the committee approach for the run game this a single-back team

In the event we have to play Denver I say we do stand a chance. Our defense isn't the mess it was last year and our new philosophy on offense will pay off.

The team flying under the radar in the AFC is Baltimore. Denver better watch for those guys.

No matter how "average" Jones is as a punter, I don't think the team should mess with the chemistry of Jones, Bailey, and Landoceur.
