Great writeup.......I liken Hardy to Haley, who was a 4th round pick. These guys were not the "workout warriors" we see now in the NFL and then fizzle out when it comes to playing football. More fizzle, than sizzle. They develope great technique with their god given assets and turn themselves into 1st round talent on the field. Even double teamed, the guy still makes plays. You can say he ain't strong, ain't fast, etc. but he does do one thing very well------and that's rush AND GET to the passer.

I agree that he will be a great help to DLawrence in technique. DLaw should be a sponge this training camp and watch/listen to Hardy. He will be better for it.
The great thing about Hardy is that he brings identity to the DL all by himself and the others will follow his lead. If anything, that is the sole reason I would like for him to remain in Big D and is worth his weight in Jones' dollars.

Now draft a mean DT, and let's light this candle. :starspin:

Lawrence is athletic enough to run into 5-6 sacks on accident over a 16 game season. With improvement in technique/strength and having Hardy influence protection and movement of the QB, I would expect 8-10 sacks this season from Lawrence.

Oh...excellent analysis from the OP.

I wouldn't say thats impossible but I saw dlaw get abused by 1 blocker alot last year, im a little more excited about what Ben Gardner may b able 2 bring...

He had issues for sure, but also flashed some positive signs as well. We'll be able to make a better judgement on him this year assuming he actually has an NFL training camp under his belt and avoids significant injury.

.

I really hope so...my only thing with dlaw is, we traded up for him because we thought he would help us significantly rite away...and that showed not to be the case injury or not we didnt get it rite now with that being said he still could turn into a great player but he better step his game up because competition is coming..

Hardy and DLaw is going to be a very good combination this season. It will improve our pass coverage and I expect us to create even more turnovers.

We know have three guys how can play inside and outside on the d line mincey Crawford and now hardy...all we need is d law to step up his play

Now add a disruptive 1tech. Like t.McLain in last yes giants game consistently

nick hayden is going to neutralize the impact of hardy, the giants didnt give any help to beatty against hardy and instead were doubling DT,teams would let the guard cheat to hardy's side because they dont have to double anybody. a 13 million dollar addition could be neutralized pretty well because marinelli like to play the worst DT in football.

Lawrence will be lucky to hit six sacks on the season.

Lawrence has a better first step than Spencer,he just needs technique work and needs to put on weight.

Great post...gots one ? what about penalties....does he play smart or let his emotions get the best of him causing unnecessary roughness penalties?

I looked for dirty play and saw nothing. No cheap shots groin punches, late hits or the like. He is an emotional player. He gets pumped and into the game. He celebrates with his teammates etc.

He kept his composure during 4 quarters of balls out line play vs Seattle. He got punked a time or two and decleated. He lined back up and went back it again and agian and again. He does have a mental lapse about once a game on average where he will appear to have his mind on something else and be late off the ball.

During the second half of the Giants game he didn't go playgorund and was workmanlike.

The worst I saw was when he appeared to lose confidence in what he was doing in the first Saints game. I was looking for fingerpointing and the like. i will say that Carolina;s defense seemed like a close group of teammates. He might be different in a weak lockerroom but I didn't see it.

He had issues with Jason Peters and Trent Williams sure. the NFCE has some of the best LT in the game in it. Then there is the Giants.

He didn't have a TC or all those practices and was improving at the end of the year. Him not beating the best right out the gate is not the end of the world for his learning curve.
