The Cowboys will not only sign linebacker Justin Durant but they plan to sign other player today, a high-level team source said.

To clear room for both players, the salary-cap strapped Cowboys will cut a player and restructure the deal of another. The Cowboys have just $102,000 under the 2013 salary cap of $123 million.

The source said the names will be announced when the deals were finalized later today.

What we do know is that a deal has been agreed to by Durant, who acknowledged as much on Twitter Tuesday. What we also know is that the team has made an offer to guard Brandon Moore, per his agent Deryk Gilmore.

Hmm.. He'll be 33 at the beginning of the season, but he could be a solid pick up for a year or two, depending on his price tag.

They must be giving these players a 100K base salary for 2013 and a guaranteed 2nd year base of 10M.

I bet if they signed Brandon Moore, they would cut Cook.

I like this signing too.

But............

Free staying on board and Moore being a starting OG means you won't see OL addressed until round 4 or lower.

Free is not going to replace Livings at OG because we don't save cutting Livings, so forget that Free to guard joke, Moore will be a starter and should. So that means Free stays at tackle and like the reports say to compete against Parnell for the starting RT spot.

D-line, or skill position will be the 1st round pick. I don't think it will be Vaccarro since there's 2-3 teams that will take him before us and we really like this Johnson kid to go with a deep safety draft.

It won't be one of the 2 stud guards unless they are willing to cut Livings or make him highly paid guard depth. Not the case.

It's going to be a DE that drops, Richardson if he's there or believe it or not a jolt player like Tavon Austin. Watch!

Jerry always has to sell jerseys and likes "juice" on offense.

Brandon Moore is an OG. Cook played Center.

Also, it was reported that Cook was restructured a couple of weeks ago; although, some of those reports are now being disputed (i.e. Livings).

The possibility of Livings being cut depends on which report you believe about his contract being restructured.

If restructured, then it's doubtful that he would be cut.

If not restructured, then they must be planning to cut him after June 1st.

True but I think Bernadeau or Kowalski could be the swing guy. Plug Moore in at RG, draft Cooper or Warmack and cut Livings after the draft.

Starting OL: Smith, Cooper, Costa/Bernadeau, Moore, Parnell/Free

Wow, I've never seen many radical conclusions based on mixed and limited information.

I don't think that's remotely true.

This just frees the team up more to go BPA.

hope its not moore. because that means we won't be drafting a guard in the first round as we should...not that Jerry actually would do it, but this would give him the justification not to do it.

and if they sign an OT in the 1st rd? I don't think any of these signing will determine who Dallas picks it only ensure we will not have to reach for players at certain positions. I think most would assume the 1st rd pick out be, DL,OL or safety I don't think any of these moves change this.

They like Cook's versatility across the line, price and professionalism.

He's even a 4th tackle if you ever needed it.

LT: Smith
LG: Livings
C: Costa
RG: Moore
RT: Free/Parnell

Backups: Berny, Cook, Leary, Arkin.

I can see Arkin cut before cook and it will cost us 18K.

Another year of a brutal o-line unless a guy like Lane Johnson falls and he won't.

Jerry does think our o-line is better than it was because at the end of the year it was playing better but it still stinks.

I get that but the Cowboys would save money by cutting Cook. Over 1 million I believe. If the organization feels Bernadeau or Kowalski can do the swing job then I'm cool with that.

It's not like teams will be banging down the door for Cook. The dude was about to be cut by Miami before we made the trade.

Agree, if they didn't restructure him a couple of weeks ago, then it would make sense to cut him. They would save 1.1M.

I have reviewed both of Bernadeau's starts at Center on the All-22 from NFL.com. I thought that he was better than Cook. Cook is a good pass-blocker but is a terrible run blocker.

I didn't know we could save 1.1 million by cutting Cook. If that's the case then it's a no brainer and I would have to agree.

Apparently Free is not being re-structured and Shefters report is erroneous.

So that also changes the schematics of the o-line.

If this nonsense was true, why have the Cowboys scheduled private workouts with Fluker, Armstead, and Warmack?
