Adam's impact

Say Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones, which Jerry Jones and Roger Goodell call him, is reinstated before training camp in Oxnard. What is Adam's impact on this team? By the way, you think his crew calls him Adam?
First, Adam becomes the primary punt returner. No doubt about it.

Cornerback Terence Newman is solid, but injury potential is too dangerous. And Jones is a better return man than Patrick ''Fair Catch'' Crayton. Jones can change games with his punt returns.

Second, Jones becomes the third cornerback even if they draft one in the first round. And with so many teams using three-receiver sets, a third cornerback is basically a starter. Based on starter Anthony Henry's injury history in Dallas, Adam could become a full-time starter. But Henry will be pressed to stay on the field with Adam lingering as a backup. Newman also fought injuries last year, including a partially torn plantar fascia which he says is now 100 percent.

With a potentially big role, that is exactly what scares some of his teammates. Count on him and he gets in trouble again and he's gone.

I like A Henry a lot, but let's no kid ourselves, Pacman is a better CB, if he's in shape, he should start opposite Newman.

In due time. I would say around middle of the season Adam should take over.

I agree Pacman should be able to unseat henry as starting CB...but then it puts dallas in position of relying on him.

I've never understood that thinking. How is Pacman a better CB than Henry? Is it because he can return punts? Different skillset, no?

I think people should lower their expectations as to what Pacman can deliver this season, if anything. Many of us thought Tank would be able to take over the nose and he got abused. Pacman hasn't played in basically two years. I think anything we get out of him THIS year should be gravy.

This is just my opinion, but, if Pacman is 100%, he is one of the best corners in the league, I saw some of the titans games the year before he got suspended and he was absolutely incredible, at cornerback.

Nothing agaist Henry, I just think Pacman is better.

I agree, WG. He is a lot better player than Tank, but I think some people are expecting Deion out there. Pac's only played two years -- one really good one and one very average one. I'm sure he'll be highly motivated to show what he can do, at least at first, but I hope people don't expect too much from him.

There have been stretches the last 3 years where Henry has been our best defensive player on the field. I'm just happy to have 3 quality starters at CB. Four would be better.

Well you're not the only one with that opinion and I guess I just don't see it. Based on numbers (yes I looked at stats) and they're very similar.

It doesn't mean that Pacman wasn't a good player in 2006. I just don't think we should expect Pacman to overtake anyone's position in 2008. With two years away from the game, on a new team, in a new defense, I expect there to be alot of rust.

I disagree about Tank getting abused. He got better as the season went along playing the run. He was a true NT here; different then what he played at Chicago.

Well for one, Henry plays 10 yards off and gives up easy first downs. He is injury prone and will get hurt as some point this season and never be able to heal up. He can get burned deep so you need over the top help. Oh and he is much older than Pacman.

I think training camp will be enough for Pacman to get in form. The guy is young and is hungry to get back in the spotlight. To compare Tank Johnson is a very bad comparision. Pacman plays corner, not much different than other defenses. Just line up and cover.

That's not saying much, burma. He made very little impact last year. He had some occasional nice plays, but there were many games you didn't know he was out there.

We will take another CB in the draft. I just don't see it in the first round now that we spent this year's 4th on PacMan.

All the corners played 10 yards off last year. Was that part of Wade's scheme? I don't know. But I wouldn't hold it against him.

His annual injury campaign is a concern, so I understand many folks disappointment in him. But when healthy Henry has been a pretty good player. I just think people are expecting Pacman to deliver his 2006 Titans performance and it's a bit unrealistic.

Henry has always played off because he doesn’t have the speed to play bump and run. Like we saw in the first game of the season. I mean, i hear Mickey going on and on about how you can’t put your trust in Pacman to be there all season, but hell, we can’t depend on Henry to be on the field all season either. But no doubt, when healthy, Anthony can play.

I do think having training camp will give Pacman an advantage Tank didnt. Also, lineman tend to get lazy and fat when they dont play and take longer to get into shape. Some of the natural talent Adam has you cant practice anyway. How do you practice punt returns? He may not be in top form right away but i dont think it will take as long as many think.

Henry stays where he is. Newman goes to the slot in nickle and Pacman plays the other side while Newman in the slot. How much Pacman plays for Henry would be based on the size of the WR they are going up against.

I could also see Henry playing some FS is base lineups against passing teams.

I would never make PacMan the starter this coming year. He has to earn that on the field and off the field for a whole year before I hand that to him.

I would think after a full training camp he should be ready to go.

True, but how much is the Wade telling him to fair catch it?
