Adam's impact
Say Cowboys cornerback Adam Jones, which Jerry Jones and Roger Goodell call him, is reinstated before training camp in Oxnard. What is Adam's impact on this team? By the way, you think his crew calls him Adam?
First, Adam becomes the primary punt returner. No doubt about it.
Cornerback Terence Newman is solid, but injury potential is too dangerous. And Jones is a better return man than Patrick ''Fair Catch'' Crayton. Jones can change games with his punt returns.
Second, Jones becomes the third cornerback even if they draft one in the first round. And with so many teams using three-receiver sets, a third cornerback is basically a starter. Based on starter Anthony Henry's injury history in Dallas, Adam could become a full-time starter. But Henry will be pressed to stay on the field with Adam lingering as a backup. Newman also fought injuries last year, including a partially torn plantar fascia which he says is now 100 percent.
With a potentially big role, that is exactly what scares some of his teammates. Count on him and he gets in trouble again and he's gone.
