So....players are worried because they might rely on Pacman as a 3rd corner....but if we didnt sign Pacman they wouldnt be worried about a draft pick or Ball playing 3rd CB?

We are drafting a CB the first day....book it :)

So I dont know why all this questioning......Pacman is a luxury....not a given because of his past history.

We lost Reeves and another player this year.....we will gain Pacman and a high draft pick....plus another yr experience with Ball....

I think we will be in fine shape....IMHO

Check out this YouTube video of Pacman's return highlights:

I knew he was good at that, but to be honest, I never watched him enough to realize he was that good. Assuming his body can return to its previous football-playing form and he can stay out of trouble for at least a year, that's a hell of an upgrade on special teams.

Not to mention a boon to my Madden team. :)

I just hope I don't have to hear people saying how he should not be returning punt and kicks because he could get injured.

Eh, who cares. He has just as good a chance of getting suspended as injured. ;)

Good point. :D As much I'm against messing with Pacman I also realize he is a great return man and if the guy has the skills to be a difference maker in the return game then why waste the talent because of a fear of injury.

Who was it yesterday that said Adam Jones was every bit as good or better than even Deion and Devin Hester with the ball in his hands? Was that Frank Wychek?

That's not saying much, burma. He made very little impact last year. He had some occasional nice plays, but there were many games you didn't know he was out there.

Im noticing a trend here. Tank didn't do much and Pacman is not very good.

*sings* one of these things is JUST like the other

Tank showed up every game from what I saw. In the beginning he was taking abd angles into gaps and using poor leverage. As the season went on that improved and he started to come on. He was a NT and a NT that is good for three plays a game on the ball is one heck of a NT. Normally they are funneling guys to other people.

Anthony Henry is a heady zone corner. He can man up but hes best in zones where he can keep the ball in front of him and cut to the ball. You HAVE to give him safety help. It his ability in zones that allows him to play when he son half a leg.

Pacman is a man cover corner. He can be lined up right over the WR, will make his jam and reroute the WR and has the quicks and speed to run with them. He also makes plays ont he ball.

To get an idea how good he is go to 10 yard torrents and look up the game we played against the Titans in 2006. He was lined up against TO most of that game and he shut him down. TO had a 40 yard TD reception but that was against Reynaldo Hill. Outside of that he had 4 catches for 42 yards.

But it goes just beyond the statistics, go and watch that game. TO is perhaps the most physical WR in the NFL. Typically he is so strong he more or less ignores the jam en route. He couldnt do that to Pacman and he couldnt get away from him all game long.

This was in the first half of 2006 before he really started to get good.

Pacman Jones frees up the coaching staff to call ANYTHING. Pacman Jones allows us to be the top sack team in the NFL.

The only trend there is by me is suggesting that people should be cautious about what he'll able to do on the field this year.

You and I both know that we could watch the same thing and come away with different opinions. Tank was ok by any other standard last year. His talent showed up occasionally, but he wasn't consistent enough to make the impact most people expected. I expect more of him this year, because he's been able to participate in the offseason workouts and he'll be in training camp.

There's alot of uncertainty around Pacman. We know what he was able to do two years ago. I think he can get back to that level, just not as soon as others.

So you are calling for "cautious optimism"?

Tank was NEVER a superstar player. The same could be said about alot of players "talent showed up occasionally"

Note: He had that bogus call on the QB. It was a GREAT play on his part.

Pretty much...

I'm not against Pacman, the player. He showed in '06, he was a baller with even more potential. I'm just not expecting '06 baller skills yet. He's still a young player and I think him being away from the field and the NFL, in general, has stunted his growth.

If I was so inclined, I could pull up some of the same type of posts of people expressing the same amount of hope regarding Tank. "He's got this type of skill set. He can do this and he can do that. And oh just wait, he's going to beat out Jay Rat" yada, yada, yada...

I'd rather wait and see what he can do...

I know WG. I think I'm just in one of my modes today.
