Bradie James questions Stewart firing

Cowboys linebacker Bradie James had a lengthy interview on the The Ticket this morning with Norm Hitzges about what went wrong this season.

One thing James doesn't sound happy with was the recent firing of defensive coordinator Brian Stewart, who was forced out after two seasons.

"The defensive coordinator wasn't the problem," James said. "What did we really solve by letting him go? The situation is still the same. I think there are other moves that need to be made but it's not about me, I'm a player so I can't make those decisions. I've just got to deal with whatever we have, whatever we put out there."

James is right. What did this move do? Firing Stewart did not solve any of this team's problems. With Stewart's play-calling duties stripped this season, he was probably better off re-starting somewhere else.

Great.

Another team leader shows exactly how to open his mouth to the media and continue to let controversy breed.

What? So is he against the firing or not? After his playcalling was stripped there was no use in paying him as a defensive coordinator anymore.

He’s right. Situation is still the same. Obviously James knows much more has to be done to fix things. I want these guys to come out and speak, they need to. Let it all out.

He's not really a leader. I think he's made it clear that he doesn't like the head coach. I don't blame him, but he needs to stop whinning. He's still getting paid as far as I know. Criticizing your boss to the media isn't smart.

I would say demarcus ware was a little more elegant in what he said last night to laufenberg about stewart.

pretty surprising considering how much better he was used and how well his stats benefitted from Brian Stewart being pushed aside.

He learned this from Greg Ellis who is never happy. We have no leaders on this team. The backlash needs to come from the person who signs the paychecks. In a normal profession, complaining about your boss to the media will usually get you fired. I don't like Jones that much, but if he was my boss I wouldn't go to the media when he did something I didn't like.

Care to summarize?

James is starting to be our defense's Crayton. They love the mics.

I don't mind players talking, but I think they need to learn the meaning "talking loud, but ain't saying nothing"

Basically that they're saying a whole bunch of nothing and not airing out family business.

And for all the talk about things needing to change, they need to look within themselves and see what they need to do as part of that change.

Hos, I think it's cool that you get inside information sometimes. You seem pretty responsible with it, too.

Maybe it's a bit hard to bite your lip, but why mention it if you can't say what it is. Is it so you can refer back to it later and prove you knew something? Hos, you're better than that.

It's so obvious, it's easy to miss.

I shouldn't have. Got a PM from WG saying that very thing.

No, that isn't why I said it.
