Dirk is a bad bad man who doesnt get near the credit he deserves. Terry, Kidd and a few others have been out played by the Nuggets most of the series, cant say the same about Dirk.

As for Cuban he is a punk and a baby, no wonder MLB didnt want him to buy a team he is disgraceful. The last thing any league wants is one of its owners whining, pushing camera men and verbally attacking a players mom. Grow up Cuban, flippin baby!

Honestly, at least Cuban is an owner who cares about the team and it's success, not just about making money. In my opinion, more owners in sports need to be like him.

There is also nothing classy about that player. :laugh2:

dirk plays great when there is no pressure on him. they arent favorites against the nuggets, he plays great. his track record in clutch situations shows how unclutch he is. i read an article(ill see if i can find it) that showed clutch stats (shooting percentage in certain situations, like with less than two minutes in a 3 point or less game or something along those lines) and dirk was near the bottom. he didnt get that reputation for nothing you know. He will never win a championship as a teams main guy, he needs to be a scottie pippen on a championship team, not michael jordan

i cant find it, maybe im thinking of a different player, but anywho i still wouldnt trust him with the ball, down by 1 in the final seconds of a game.

i did find this little tid bid on a bill simons article that you mavs fans might find interesting

12. Dirk Nowitzki
... with a ghastly 39.2 percent. Why not play him at center and embrace their stylistic advantage with Dirk in the slash-and-kick era? Not to keep touting 82games.com, but I logged onto their best plus-minus for five-man units" page to check where Kidd-Terry-Howard-Dirk-Brandon Bass ranked ... and they were first. Can't say I was shocked. But here's what did shock me: They've played only 123 minutes together. I keep telling you: Coaches are dumb.

Taken from another board:

Dirk in 16 career elimination games in the playoffs:

Points per game: 30.25
Rebounds: 12.5
Assists: 2.4
Blocks: 1.3
Steals: 1.1
FGM: 9.9
FGA: 20.1
FG%: 49.4%
3ptM: 1.5
3ptA: 3.4
3pt%: 43.6%
FTM: 8.9
FTA: 9.9
FT%: 89.3

His numbers are better when it's do or die. I'm not real sure what people are wanting.

Yeah, good stuff from Simmons, as usual. You can't always play Dirk at C depending on the defensive matchups, but I like Bass at the 4 spot with Dirk at the 5, and most of the time Bass can do a decent job guarding the other team's C (he even did a good job vs Yao in the regular season finale). But since he is only 6-7, he is at a size disadvantage.

I really hope they are able to re-sign Bass during the offseason. Otherwise, maybe they could do something similar if they are ever able to find a good low-post PF and line him up with Dirk.

Good stuff. I keep dropping the stat that Dirk is one of 5 players in NBA playoff history to average 25-10. Dirk's career regular season average is 22-8, which means he steps it up in the playoffs when the stakes are higher and the competition is much better.

Compare that to someone like Chris Webber who averaged about a 20-10 during the regular season but only 18-8 in the playoffs. That's what most players do since the games bog down more in the playoffs (fewer possessions, fewer chances to score), and it's obviously much harder to score considering the pressure and quality of the opponent. So if you can at least match your regular season avg then you are stepping up.

But if you can surpass it, as Dirk has done... then you are playing on a whole 'nother level.

actually from what I have heard, seen and read about it...They all need to grow up.

Cuban, martin and his family.

Its ridiculous that cuban is talking about his mom.

Its ridiculous that martin is mad about it.

Its ridiculous martin is allowed to swear and threaten the owner of an nba franchise in front of everyone on camera without any repercussions.

All this to me is pure comedy. NBA the league of the biggest wimps in the world. There is all this angst on the court from these teams because they no that no one can actually do anything about it and it is all talk and taunting.

Every shot made by denver they taunt the crowd and the mavs, every shot missed they cry up and down the court for a foul.....A handful of the mavs do it too.....Both teams have flopped constantly in this series.

Its all comical and it is the epitomy of the garbage that the nba has become. Its pure crap. I am a broken record, but none of these guys would last a week in the nhl. You start trouble and taunt in the nhl and you had better be able to defend yourself. Which keeps the nonsense to a lower level and at the same time keeps the nonsense with the guys who can only defend themselves.

I would love to see Steve Ott pound Kenyon martin into the ground. lol.

What are the big bad Hockey players going to do to the guy who sucker punched somebody the other day? Talk about being a punk/thug. There are more thugs in the NHL than the NBA but nobody wants to talk about that. Comical indeed

lol

Like I said, the enforcers are well known in the nhl. So the guys looking for trouble look for each other and the game is policed by itself, are there some lunatics in the nhl absolutley.

more thugs than the nba....please. There are some bad dudes though that are enforcers...

Ummmm....no? But thanks anyway. The guy whose role model is TO is going to tell someone to grow up?

LOL!

You telling anyone else to grow up is even more funny than Martin's mother being told he's a thug.

Yes I think it's funny. Mainly because I agree that Martin is a punk and I just find it funny that someone actually said it to his mother.

I don't expect her to agree, and I don't blame her for being offended or angry about it, it's just funny to me that someone would actually say it.

Probably because there are fewer NHL fans than there are NBA fans. I don't know that for a fact but it just seems that way. It's harder to find hockey fans than NBA fans.

I'm quoting you, but I'm interested in others thoughts, as well.

I'd like to know what qualifies NBA players as thugs?

I doubt few people on here can lay claim to what kinda lifestyle these guys live off the court.

Do they whine alot? Yeah...right up there with alot of NFL players. So what makes them thugs? What makes their actions thuggery?

Not gonna bash the NHL since I don't watch it and prolly never will. Closest I have has been the Mighty Ducks movie.

well for me thug isnt actually a term i would use, i think it has been beaten into my head this past week though from the mavs series.

what I am saying is they are whiney fake tough guys. There is alot of high school pushing and shoving in the nba, and as someone who watches the nhl more it comes across really crappy because they all know it is just talk. I think it hurts the game.

but I totally understand why people dont like the nhl and I do understand that there are and have been some seriously bad dudes in the nhl...real thugs..like ty domi!!

I am confused, Are you inferring I am a internet tough guy or something?

Cause if so you are wrong, I am not a tough guy at all, internet or in person....But I do appreciate the athletes who are and dont cause trouble with their mouths and flop all over the place.

You know guys that are the opposite of your hero.

95% of the NBA is a bunch of sissy's. atleast in the NHL they can back it up when they talk tough except for that little girl Sidney Crosby.
