Wade Phillips on T.O.'s release

The Cowboys just released a comment from Wade Phillips on Terrell Owens' release....

"I enjoyed having the opportunity to coach Terrell Owens, and I appreciate his contributions to our team over the past two years. In our time together, I saw one of the more productive and explosive players in the NFL at the receiver position. I think that when his playing days come to an end he will have compiled a career that is worthy of the Hall of Fame.

We’re now ready to move on and this decision will open the door for other younger players on our team to step up. That process will begin here in a few weeks with the start of the off-season program."

Maybe the gag order was just until they decided about TO...

Though I don't expect them to talk much right now during serious draft time.

Jerry "One Voice" Jones has let Wade Phillips speak.

Here's what Phillips had to say in a statement through the team regarding the release of Terrell Owens:

"I enjoyed having the opportunity to coach Terrell Owens, and I appreciate his contributions to our team over the past two years. In our time together, I saw one of the more productive and explosive players in the NFL at the receiver position. "We're now ready to move on and this decision will open the door for other younger players on our team to step up. That process will begin here in a few weeks with the start of the off-season program."

Very insightful stuff.

Did not.

He only told Phillips what to write.

I actually thought the comment about young player stepping up was worthwhile.

I think this staff really likes Austin and Hurd....and it's safe to say that Hurd got that tender because the team was in the process of coming to a decision on TO.

This is a released statement. Doesn't mean the gag order is over. It's not as if Wade did a presser or fielded questions from reporters.

He's a nice guy and good defensive coordinator. Quality Head Coach, he's on the bottom 16 of the current 32 in this league.

Come on... everyone knows he's just being PC. No need trashing TO in the media after his release. Everyone knows why we released him.

Regardless where TO goes, if he never wins a SB with a team, what team do you think he goes in the HOF as?

That's not politically correct. That's just plain old vanilla. He may as well text messaged that to Owens instead of releasing it to the media.

That was about as much Wade as TO's statement was TO.
