Ware Supports Ellis

Linebacker DeMarcus Ware did right by his teammate Greg Ellis today. Not that you'd expect anything less from Ware.
Ware was at a photo shoot today for Venom Energy Drink; he's one of the athletes who is endorsing the energy drink.
Ware was asked about Ellis, who once again appears may be one his way out of town with another round of linebackers being drafted.

"When I first came in he was a mentor to me and all the rookies. I’ve learned a lot from Greg," Ware said. "He’s a guy people leaned on. He’s also a guy that shows and leads by example. And then they brought - I’m not going to call any names - they brought a lot of guys in to take his position and you see how hard he works and nobody has been able to beat him out yet. He’s out there working hard and playing hard. I think he fits in our defense. I hope he’s here to stay."

Will such comments matter? Probably not ... but they're nice comments regardless.

why would he need to do that? we have plenty of cap room and Ellis only has a yr left on his deal anyway..

Yeah Ellis isn't getting a new deal.

He's going to play out his contract and then he'll be gone.

Dallas really needed to sign some winners on the defensive side of the ball at some point.

What has Ware learned from Ellis?

The art of the almost-sack?

How to be mediocre for a decade?

How to not excel in the Mike Zimmer defense?

How to flirt with being a pretty good player?

How to not win Super Bowls? (edit: Playoff game)

How to whine about your role to the media?

How to cry about your contract to anyone who'll listen?

It's no wonder this team closes up shop every December.

It seems more and more that Ware doesn't exactly like the powers that be with the Cowboys.

I didn't get that impression at all. He was just propping a player that he knows to still be productive and stated the truth regarding the 2 first round LB prospects were unable to dislodge him

Ware talked about how much help Ellis was in his rookie year as well. I hope to see Spencer get more time but I would continue to rotate Ellis in the game because he can do the job.

I agree. I think Ware will become the vocal leader of this team and speak out. I think the defense players see Ware as the playmaker of this defense and respect him. Truth is we have brought in players to replace Ellis and none has yet to do it that does not mean a guy like Spencer will not do it but has not done so as of yet

I know, right? Ware can't even give Ellis props for still being the man, even with all the young guys coming in to try and take it from him.

I think it says alot for Ellis, no matter how much people dislike him and his comments regarding his position on the team.

Just like WG said yesterday, it's like everyone expects the team to be a bunch of mutes.

Puh-leeze.

I'm getting the feeling that alot of guys on our team, are getting tired of a certain group of young players... Carpenter and Spencer specifically.

Then holler because there is no vocal leader. Ware gave props to Ellis his intent was not to put anyone down but I think some have become so negative in their views they see nothing but the negative

Spencer, much like Miles Austin, pretty much won their training camp battles last year and both got hurt.

Spencer just needs to stay out of the tub.

I agree but Spencer has to understand stopping the run is as important as pass rushing, you can't allow runners to get around you because you are looking for sacks teams are going to continue to run the ball at him if all he is doing is trying to get to the QB. I like Spencer but his game must improve
